Skype -- Does it Actually Work?

I'm logged in, my account is active, my contacts are there -- everything looks fine. Try to make an audio only call. Call connects, but I can't hear the person I'm calling, and they can't hear me. It doesn't matter whether I'm using headset adapter microphone
or Kinect microphone (set up via "Settings").

Try to make a video call. Call might connect, but I can't hear the person I'm calling, and they can't hear me. And, they can't see me.

One of my friends tried to video call me the other day, and he was crashed out when I tried to answer it.

So ... does Skype actually work? And if it does, WTH am I doing wrong?

You may actually try to re-download back the profile and then to restart the console afterwards. From then you can test Skype. Also does this only happen with Skype and not with other apps?

SONY fans claim that SONY do not need to pay Ms for them to used skype on the PS4.

Why would anyone have to pay to run a Skype app? Does MS actually charge royalty fees for it? I'd be surprised considering how many devices that have apps for it.

 

I know it's a bit of a clichéd response for a Microsoft product, but have you tried turning it off an turning it on again? and by this I mean pressing the power button on the console for > 5 seconds to force a complete shutdown.

Audio problems are typically caused by issues with the sensor and so forcing a shutdown and restarting usually clear the problem.

 

CTRL-ALT-DEL Restart apparently did it. So ... 20th century.
