Skype Crashing on Xbox One - Dec 26, 2015

The Skype App for Xbox one crashes when signing in to Skype.

The recent Skype app updated seemed to fail. Now when launching the Skype App, it will immediately close after launching.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and restarted the Xbox. After being reinstalled the app will launch and go through the setup. At the point where I sign in to my skype account, the app closes. Then the previous issue persists and Skype will launch
and then immediately close. It seems to occur at the point where the Skype app signs into my Skype account. The Skype account functions on all other devices.

I am currently a member of the preview program, OS version is 10.0.10586.1024

Anyone have a fix?

skype app keeps still crashing on my xbox one.

and the last update i got was on 7-01-2016

 

I have the same problem. I read this in another forum: "open skype app in snapped mode and after chose full screen" is a temporary fix.

 

Try unistalling it and reinstalling it. If that doesnt work try hard resetting your xbox by holding the power button on the front of your xbox for 10 seconds then turn it back on.

 

I appreciate the unistall/reinstall hard reset suggestion. This is obviously the first thing that everyone should try. However multiple attempts with no success.

The snapped window workaround did have success. That would seem to indicate this is an issue with the app and how it works with the new dashboard. Hopefully the Xbox Support team can pick up on this and work towards creating an actual solution.

 

I'm also seeing this issue since I got the NXOE update... Tried to uninstall/reinstall multiple times and also after a full power cycle, but it doesn't get fixed. I just have to be lucky and restart the app many times until it finally works... sometimes
this takes more than 10 minutes of restarting.

 

There's an update on the Skype Community about the work from the Skype and Xbox One developers towards a fix for the Skype app problems:

I am having the same issue this does not seem to have been addressed?

 

So, this is towards the end of April, And I'm still having an issue with launching Skype immediately returning to the home screen on XBox One. The snap method appears to be doing the exact same thing now, it just goes away and
does stay, and is logged out of Skype. So now what?? I really hope a fix is made soon!
