Skype app will not launch.

Since receiving a message from microsoft to update the skype app on my xbox one to the latest version on the microsoft store which i did the skype app will no longer launch it keeps on coming up with a error saying that skype is not currently available!!!

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Skype Crashing on Xbox One - Dec 26, 2015

The Skype App for Xbox one crashes when signing in to Skype.

The recent Skype app updated seemed to fail. Now when launching the Skype App, it will immediately close after launching.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and restarted the Xbox. After being reinstalled the app will launch and go through the setup. At the point where I sign in to my skype account, the app closes. Then the previous issue persists and Skype will launch
and then immediately close. It seems to occur at the point where the Skype app signs into my Skype account. The Skype account functions on all other devices.

I am currently a member of the preview program, OS version is 10.0.10586.1024

Anyone have a fix?

 

Skype/Games/Other Apps Refuse to open or crash shortly after

One workaround to get Skype working again that was discovered on the Skype Community is to open the Skype app in snapped mode:

community.skype.com/.../4229708

Once launch and signing in to the app has finished you can switch back to fullscreen and the app should continue to work normally onwards.

Would be great if you can try it out and report back if it worked for you as well.

 

Try to delete the app, restart the console and download the app again

Thanks for the response but this is of no help to me as i have already carried out the following steps to try and resolve this concern myself prior to posting in this forum.

-I deleted the app, restarted my console, reinstalled the app, attempted to launch the app, same error after signing into the Skype app it comes up with a error skype currently not available. For the record my sign in details are correct.

-Then i tried uninstalling the skype app again, restarted my xbox one, reset all the settings to factory on my console, reinstalled the Skype app, still comes up with error message skype currently unavailable.

They have both an email and virtual agent to choose from.

unintall and reinstall that app, if your still having the problem then remove your account profike from your console and put it back as well

Thanks for the reply but this is not the issue as Skype on my xbox one will work if i log in with another xbox live account, i have removed my account from the console deleted the skype app, reset the console, removed the console from my microsoft account
device list, then reset the console back to factory selecting the option to delete games, apps and files on my console, then resigned in to my xbox one reinstalled the skype app and still it comes up with skype is currently not available try again later, i
then immediately signed in with another xbox live account on the console clicked on te skype app and it opened up immediately no issues. So the issue lies within my microsoft account, what i need to be done is that my skype account be deleted without deleting
mu email/microsoft account so as i can create a new skype account on my current email address this i believe will resolve my concern, i contacted skype support yesterday they were no help they said it was a xbox issue, they transfer me to xbox support they
tried to tell me its a skype support issue in the end im being stuffed about, i would appreciate it if you could put me on to someone at skype support that will be able to delete my skype account so as i can create a new one on my current email address/microsoft
account. deleting my address is not a option as i will lose my xbox live gamer tag account with all my game history and achievements not to mention my followers.

And also I am very unhappy with this situation. We are being forced to "link" our Skype accounts with our msn/microsoft email accounts. Forced, then this happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You would need to get with
Skype to do anything within the account. Being the app is theirs.

Thanks for the reply but i already contacted them and they have pushed me aside claimed that its a Xbox issue as they checked my account and its fine, so now i will be contacting Xbox support. Here is what i have carried out so far to try and resolve the
issue which leads me to believe that there is a issue with my Microsoft account conflicting with my Xbox live account only happened once Microsoft linked my Skype account with my email account.
