Skype and my Child's Account

So I have settings set up so that the parent needs to enter their password in order for my child to use Skype. But that doesn't seem to matter much since I can't get her a Skype account set up. Is there a way around this? Do they have anything set in the
future to allow them in the future?

My daughter spends time at my house, and at her mothers house since we are divorced. When I game with my daughter while she's with her mother, I'd love to be able to Skype her while we're playing. I also know that her cousins are getting an Xbox One for
Christmas as well, and I know they would love to be able to Skype each other as well. So why isn't she allowed to have Skype account?

Can't sign in to Skype on Xbox One

When I tried to sign in to Skype on my Xbox One, it shows this error message:

Ask your parent to change this setting for you

You can't Xbox Live Gold is required to use Skype for Xbox One because of how your account is set up.

Your parent can change this for you in your privacy settings.

(This is exactly how the error message appeared, with the weird grammar)

I have Xbox Live Gold and not using a child's account (is that a thing?), and I can sign in to Skype just fine on my PC and phone.

 

How do I change my child's gamertag?

No option in my account to change my child's gamertag. Do I need to do this as my child's account? And when it asks to add a credit card to my child's account to change the gamertag, can I remove the credit card? Thanks.

Ok, but I already have a Skype account. I have 1 that is now associated with my gamertag, and I have another Skype account that I've set up years ago that I used regularly. But it won't connect with her gamertag because of a conflict of age...which shouldn't
be of issue because it's already been set up by me.

Why can't I connect an already established Skype account with my daughters gamertag?

It may be because Xbox's child accounts already assume that she is a minor, and if that is the case, the account is a child account, and if it was set up initially as a child account, it may not be able to "graduate" to adult status until she reaches the
age of majority wherever you live. <The age restriction may be the sole reason you cannot associate a Skype account with her gamertag.>

What it seems like is I should have just created her Gamertag as an 18 year old, put her under my family and then put safety permissions onto her account, because despite the fact that I should be able to give permissions to what my daughter can use and
when, I ultimately can't because I'm pigeon-holed by Microsoft.

I would do exactly what you suggested, that way, you can set up the privs you want your daughter to have, and which ones you do not want her to have - this way, you can most likely set it up to the level of access you want her to be able to use. Unfortunately,
sometimes you cannot do what makes "sense," because as a family member, you as a parent should be able to take charge (as I am sure you do) of what you allow and what you won't, rather than to shut down access to apps simply because of age - This way, you
are STILL responsible for her actions, whether or NOT she is or Is NOT underage - Skype must figure that kids don't know what they are doing, and that parents don't care either, so in order to give them the ability to Skype, they have to be held legally bound,
but as the PARENT, you already are legally BOUND, because your daughter is under your control
