Size of preloaded game is missing in used HDD space - preload done or not?

Hello,

I just noticed a strange thing when I was checking the used space on my XBox One. I preordered Forza Horizon 3 and wanted to start the preload as I noticed it takes already about 48 GB of disk space. I wonder how this can be possible as I didn't use the XBox
One for about 6 weeks. So when could the preload have happened?

As I calculated the disk space of all installed games the result was that the size is about what all individual games show, but without FH3. When I try to start FH3, it seems it would be installed: It's preparing the launch and then tells me I can't stat
it because it isn't released yet (which is correct).

So what is correct? Is FH3 really installed and the used / available space info is wrong or is the preload still missing? As it takes about 12 hours to download FH3 so I just want to prevent downloading it again if it is already downloaded, but also don't
want to risk it is missing and have to wait 12 hours after I could begin to play.

Digital & Retail size

Is there a difference in size between digital and Retail games?

I'm hoping that Xbox will hopefully soon have preload/Preorder ability on Xbox one but I don't know if there is a size difference between the digital and retail product,

My dad said I'm not going to start filling my xbox one with digital games If they fill up my HDD but he never grew up with videogames or electronics so I think I would buy some games Digital and some games disc based, plus I sometimes trade in my games or
sell them afterwards when I'm done with them and I can't get rid of digital games other than like discs

I like the idea of preload and preorder ability on Xbox one but I don't know how long til MS would put it in.

 

Xbox support

The 500GB is the total size of the HDD. It will not all be available for Games and Apps. The remaining spaces is used for the OS and other various overhead required by the system.

I just checked what happens when I go to the store.

Under the thumbnail of FH3 Ultimate Edition there is an info that I already purchased the product.

When I select it there is a button "manage" (could be a different word with same meaning, I have another language on the XBox).

When I select it I get into the install info where FH3 is listed with 47.x GB of internal used space and all addons of the Ultimate Edition with 10 MB each. I just tried to start the game again, but this time I got a strange error message. I should insert
a disk if I have one (I don't because it's a digital purchase) and the error code was 0x803F8001.

I hope you can tell me what's wrong there.

I was a bit sceptical because of the error code and the missing logo of Forza Horizon 3. As there was still enough time for another preload I uninstalled and reinstalled FH3 again yesterday evening. It seems there really was a bug with the info of the used
space by FH3, because when I started reinstalling and checked the used space of the HDD again it dropped by the amount FH3 requires.

I would say it is better to trust the info of the total HDD space, because the used space of FH3 was a wrong information. I don't know how often this could happen but probably you are able to report this error to the developers so they could check and probably
resolve it.

By the way: When I start FH3 now I get the correct message that it isn't activated yet and I should check the store for the release date.

In the list of installed games the FH3 logo is blank, but it says "Forza Horizon 3" and "preordered" so I think this shouldn't be a problem to start it on friday
