    Single button intermittent issues with both controllers.


    Hi all, I've seen some posts about all buttons, some buttons and one button... but I have two controllers BOTH of which intermittently have the "A" buttons non-functional occasionally on the home screen. All other buttons work, I can back out, move etc. Both controllers will work fine after a hard reboot of the system and the controller. I can understand if one of them is on the fritz, but BOTH controllers? I would turn one off before connecting the second and vise-versa....one at a time to make sure nothing's getting crossed. It started off as a once in a while kind of thing, now in the past week it's been with almost every boot up of the system, the controller's "A" button doesn't want to initiate. The xbox will acknowledge the button press with the typical icon flash and noise, but nothing will initiate on the home screen. Yesterday I had issues navigating YouTube and Discovery+, I couldn't scroll or select anything within those apps. Any ideas as to what the problems might be?

    Sorry to hear you've had this happen. This is a known issue that happens intermittently when starting from Instant On.

    You can use the method you described or power cycle the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds till it shuts down.

    Also, be sure to report it by holding the Guide button on the controller until you see the option to report a problem

    Can anyone help...I've tried both controllers and tried 3 new headsets and none of them work.

    Will resetting the console fix this issue? They seem to work intermittently, like one minute it will work fine and I can chat to and hear others and next minute, wont work at all.
    It could also be an issue with the actual controller jacks themselves they could be damaged, you might need to purchase a new controller

    The Xbox One controllers are poorly built

    Had to come back to this thread to say that my elite controller is now on it's way for a warranty return. Issue cropped up literally a day before warranty expired. (3 months) The B button is sticking down intermittently. (Again, mature gamer, no drops, no
    food, light use, etc.)

    Xbox Elite controllers are faulty.

    I have just had the Elite Gears of War 4 Elite controller and had 6 replacements from the Game UK store. This one now has an intermittent working A button?!

    Please go ahead and create a new thread if you haven't already. This way you can receive support specifically tailored to you. Be sure to include the details of the issue as well as any troubleshooting steps that you have tried. In the meantime, I suggest trying
    a few troubleshooting steps:

    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Remove the batteries from your controller.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then reinsert the batteries into your controller and plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and check to see if the issue continues to occur.
