Since when was XBOX so strict?

Having been an avid XBOX console gamer since before Halo 2, I've noticed the restrictions getting more and more intense. Now, I haven't been banned (yet) ever from XBOX. But noticing the fluctuation of my feedback is why I believe it'll happen eventually.

During my several year reign on XBOX 360, I was never banned once. Whether it be communications, network, gametag, etc. I've never had an issue with XBOX's support. Then within the year and a half of owning this XBOX, I noticed the levels spiked. It seems
every week i'm fluctuating from different "statuses" for my feedback level. How is this monitored? How is there any evidence? I understand you can view messages, but how can you say someone verbally assaulted someone, "cheated" in a game. I know you guys aren't
monitoring these, so how can you issue a ban (temp. suspension) on something that can't be traced? I understand some kids are being kids, but how can they just "report" you for harassment and it go through. All they have to do is have their friends report
you as well and rack up the tallys against your feedback until you guys do something. Doesn't seem like a logical solution.

You guys ban people for cursing/language, but you need to understand that playing games such as Call of Duty and Gears of War are rated M for many reason...including...wait for it.....CURSING. You kills someone in Gears and they'll curse you out, so what's
the deal with saying the same thing?

Your guidelines are becoming very childish, racial slurs/murderous comments/bodily injury are all serious offenses, but telling someone to shut up shouldn't be a punishable offense. I've read numerous posts about people being banned for cursing, when the
people reporting them aren't even old enough to purchase the game.

Again, haven't been banned, just noticed the restrictions increasing rapidly. Not impressed XBOX.

:)

Xbox one plug and play charger.

I have the Orb charger plugged into the HDMI port on the side..if memory serves me I plugged it in when my Xbox was on..left it plugged in ever since and it still charges when I turn the Xbox off.

Hi CornedBeefThief,

Actually Xbox does monitor the verbal communication, and they do suspend off of language used in chat and voice messages. Provided you follow the Code of Conduct, you shouldn't
have anything to worry about. I've been an Xbox Live member for over 13 years, I play A LOT of online games, and I've never had any issues with suspension or player rating. The player rating is based off community feedback (leaving games early, using foul
language in game, ect).

Xbox Live is a service for people of all ages, and it should be fun for all ages. If you want to cuss, then don't do it in a public match, or mute your mic. Making sure Xbox is fun for everyone is Microsoft's job, and they're doing a pretty good job of it
IMO. When I say all ages, I mean adults too. I don't want to play a game rated T or M, kill somebody, and then have them cuss me out. I'm an adult and I'd prefer not to hear it.

In fact, they actually do. If a gamertag is being reported through the Xbox console's report feature, the Gamertag along with other information concerning the report (for example the text message, if the complaint is about a Xbox Live message) are being
queued in a database at the Xbox Live Policy Enforcement Team headquarter.

They review the report, and depending on the type of report, they read the offending message, or force themselves into the multiplayer match of the offending player.

If they witness behavior that violates the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct, they punish the offending user accordingly.

If they find that the report was generated by a sore loser, then the sore loser will be punished for abusing the report system.

An Enforcer held a presentation 2010 on how the Enforcement process works. .
All they have to do is have their friends report you as well and rack up the tallys against your feedback until you guys do something.
That's not how the enforcement system works.

The more people report you, the more "urgent" the report becomes, and the faster it moves up in the database queue. If it reaches the top, a real live person is reviewing the report(s), and checks them for validity.

If the reports check out to be true, the offending Gamertag gets punished. If the reports are false, the reporting gamertags are being punished for abusing the report system.
You guys ban people for cursing/language, but you need to understand that playing games such as Call of Duty and Gears of War are rated M for many reason...including...wait for it.....CURSING. You kills someone in Gears and

While in games some characters curse, these curses aren't personally directed to another user.

In heated combat, if you get shot, and the "F-Word" slips OCCASIONALLY, nothing will happen. The Enforcers witnessing you know that everyone is human, and has emotions that sometimes burst out uncontrollably.

However, if those OCCASIONAL F-Bombs get all to frequent or are directed personally to another person (e.g. "F... I got shot in the head" is 'okay' if it happens SOMETIMES, while "F... you RandomGamer2917 you shot me, you &%$§/&") then the Enforcement team
will punish you.
Again, haven't been banned, just noticed the restrictions increasing rapidly. Not impressed XBOX.
If you haven't been banned, how did you "notice" these restrictions increasing? The Enforcement team respects the privacy, and doesn't tell how many people have been banned or suspended.

And think about it that way: If someone is caught by the police speeding, most people will say "No Officer, I was NOT speeding!". The same is with people complaining publicly. No one will post a message saying "Yeah, I was a complete jerk and told nasty
things, and it was right for Xbox Enforcement to ban me". It's always "Oh teh noes! Xbox Banned me and I did nothing wrong! Xbox is the suxx! I will buy Playstation nowz!"

In fact, the Enforcement loosened some restrictions. In the past, it was an instant permanent ban if you, for example, modified your Avatar to be blue with the help of PC tools, or similar modifications to your profile.

Now, if the Enforcement Team finds your Avatar or Gamertag being modified, you will get an email with a warning, to revert these modifications within 30 days.

If after 30 days your Avatar and Gamertag Profile are back to "normal" parameters, nothing will happen.

If your Avatar and Profile still are "hacked" after 30 days, your account is permanently banned.

Thanks for the replies, Arminator and Hydro. That cleared some concerns up. But, some doubt is tingling in the statement about XB1 being less strict than 360. My gaming habits haven't changed since the transition from 360 to 1 but somehow my feedback has
changed over 10 times. It just seems the consistency has changed. I guess, back on 360 it was easier to get out of red when someone rated your feedback positively. I do understand why it was taken away though.

As far as the cursing goes. My example is below:

I play Gears of War, always have. When playing as character Anya, she's fairly vulgar. When you "body" someone using this character, she screams "F___ Y__!!!". How is this not "directed" towards the opposing player? How is this any different than me saying
that to someone or vice versa?

Because you saying it is against the CoC I listed above. It's just the rules. Many games today have language that isn't suitable for kids. That's part of the playing experience that is for that game. You saying it is not part of the playing experience. Also,
where would Xbox draw the line, and say it's ok to say this, but using it in this way is against CoC. I think that's a line they legally can't draw.

I think the best thing to do is just try to watch yourself. I personally mute my mic unless I'm in a party or have something of importance to say. There isn't anything I can contribute by using bad language all over Xbox Live. Like ArminatorX stated, sometimes
words slip. It happens, just don't cuss out a stranger.

Hope this helps.

Yes ps4 is just as strict. Actually more strict in the punishment at least. If you said something bad to someone on ps4 and that person reportz you they temporarily suspend your whole account. Not just your communications

10. Hey EDM Or Nada and KindGryphon this thread is a bit older.

As Hydro Skillet and ArminatorX pointed out, it's best to follow the code of conduct while playing on Xbox Live to avoid any sort of enforcement action on the account. As long as the
Code of Conduct is being followed, you won't need to worry about enforcement actions on the account.

Please feel free to start a new thread if you have any other support issues, so the community can provide support specific to your individual situation.

Thanks!
