since 1407 Kinect commands and TV app won't work properly

This has probably been posted many times, but I guess the more people posting about this issue, the more likely a later update will rectify this.

I purchased my Xbox One 3 months ago and everything was working great. Have it hooked up to my (AT&T) cable box, and mostly watch TV through it, hence the two issues noted here impact me the most, as I use Kinect and TV functionality the most.

Since the 1407 (July) update, I've noticed two issues I have never had before:

    • Kinect voice command recognition reliability decreased
Standard commands aren't recognised as easily: "Xbox on", "Watch TV", "Mute" etc. For example, I spoke the command "Xbox, volume up" and the Xbox took me to the E! Entertainment channel in the TV app. The way I speak (with an Australian accent), these sound
    NOTHING alike.

    • TV app loses connectivity with cable box
Until the July update, this app worked flawlessly every time. As soon as I got the July update last week, this app works first time maybe only 25% of the time. Almost every time, I get either "We have lost connection to your device" from the IPTV
box (which may eventually clear after 30 seconds), or worse "HDCP authentication failure" which can only be resolved (thus far) by turning the Xbox off and on again.

If there is a way to resolve these issues currently, I'd appreciate instructions, otherwise, please look into these issues, Microsoft!

    :)

"For some reason TV took too long to start (0x8027025a)"

Finally gave up with the Xbox One TV app and I'm never going back! I pulled the cord on Friday and since I have had a much better TV picture and better TV sound. I also no longer have to worry about the app hanging causing me to reboot the Xbox.

Okay, so what have I lost? Well I no longer have access to the OneGuide, won't miss that and I no longer get to shout commands to the Kinect. As most of those commands went unanswered I won't miss that either. In short, getting rid of the Xbox One TV app
is all gain and no pain.

I guess it was a good try Microsoft but ultimately, a total failure.

Try doing a hard rest by holding the power button on the front of the console until it turns off then unplug it from the outlet for 30 sec, then plug back in and power back on. Hopefully it will start working properly for you.

Hi aqva! Let's see if I can give you a hand; first, on the Kinect issue, have you re-run Kinect setup? It could be an issue requiring a reconfiguration for it to hear you properly again.

The HDCP issue is a common one after 1407; this update included a new HDMI-in driver and many people are now getting the HDCP error (when switching away from the TV app and then back again) as well as a sporadic "snowy flash." Instead of completely turning
off the Xbox and back on, try backing out to the home screen, highlighting "TV" (in the largest window showing the active app) then pressing Start and finally selecting "Quit." Then reopen the TV app. This has fixed the issue (temporarily) for others I know
and seems to take less time than shutting down.

The engineers are aware of the HDCP issue and are working to resolve it; as for Kinect, let me know about my setup question, and know that they are continually revising the Voice Control functionality. since 1407 Kinect commands and TV app won't work properly :)

you still are saying this wrong... if your disc tray breaks on your DVD your TV will still work..yes... also... if the kinect breaks.. yes, your TV will still work just like with the DVD problem..... since the Kinect is more like your disc tray and the XB1
is your DVD player.. since both need each other to work properly...
