    I agree. It's total BS.

    Back at the Build '14 conference an MS techie told devs that 1080P was 'absolutely possible, period'... and 'here's how you do it'.

    Besides, we already have games at 1080P on the Xbox One. I think the only reason we aren't seeing as many 1080P titles compared to the PS4 so far is down to devs still getting to grips with the Xbox One tech. Plus, with DX12 still in development... devs
    have no where near 'final' dev kits anyway.

    The PS4 is simpler to develop for. That's the only reason why it's been easier to hit 1080P on that platform.

    Besides, 1080P is a fad anyway. Because devs (and gamers) will demand more intrinsic worlds as the generation progresses. The only way to add a lot more detail to our gaming worlds... is to lower resolutions and frame rates.

    Before long, rez will be coming down on the PS4 as well to satisfy this.

    Personally, I would rather they developed games at 720P with 4x to 8x more detail in the environments they create. Let's face it, the 'Avatar' movie looks fantastic - even on a 720P display. A highly populated, lavishly detailed world to explore. That
    for me... is far better than any crisp 1080P / 60 fps 'empty' world with low detail environments.

    Hell, a movie like 24fps wouldn't even bother me. As long as it's a rock solid 24fps with no dips... that would look perfectly fine in my book. They can still keep the controls at 60hz... just refresh the display at 24fps.

    I'd imagine that 'Avatar' imagery would be very possible on the Xbox One at 720P and 24fps. Bring in the Cloud compute on top... stunning game worlds can be realised.

    It's a click bait title for sure, if you read the actual quotes however it does not imply this at all, the bit in question was

    "not utilizing the ESram efficiently"

    I am sure when dx12 drops and they can use it, for its intended purpose all will be fine.

    they could have quoted "It will be a very good thing!" about dx12 or "The more objects on screen the more boost you get." which are huge positive benefits.

    It is articles and web sites like the linked to the OP post that causes 99% of the issues on these forums. They are all opinions........ I guess these "writers" have excess spare time between there shifts at McDonalds and Wendy's....

  9. I genuinely dislike folk who look down on fast food workers. Especially in cases like this when they don't realise how many hours those folk work.
    Shift of 12 hours or more are an all too often occurrence.

    Do you have any idea at how difficult that would make a game to control? You know how annoying it is when a game you are playing drops in frames per second, imagine it in that lower FPS all the time.

    As to the Xbox One, I believe its troubles come from the software, not the hardware (which is honestly pretty damn good.

    Developers are having to work around the 'three operating systems'. The one the games run on, the one that runs the apps, and the one that sits in-between them. It must be a nightmare ensuring your game continues to run without issue when SKYPE for example
    is snapped on the screen.

    Films are a passive experience, one where you are not directly controlling the action on screen.

    So yes, running games at that would be a great bother to people. You might not believe that those six extra frames per second from 24 to 30 make a difference, but they really do.

    It stuns me all the time how people look down on fast food workers. I'm betting most of those who do have a nice little 9 to 5 job.

    A lot of it is perception in a person's mind.

    "I've been playing games at 720p on my 360. Why can't the One do better than that by default."

    This is a difficult one to answer to be honest. A bad looking game is always going to look bad, no matter the resolution.

    Yet a good looking game can be made to look bad at a lower resolution.

    Just as a personal example. A friend of mine recently leant me Dragon Age Origins in an attempt to get me to use my 360 as more than a media streamer.

    The game looks horrible on the 360, I'm sorry to any fans of the game but it really does.

    Yet I've seen it this week playing on that same friend's PC, he'd bought it in the Steam summer sale, and boy does it look like a completely different game. This is vanilla with no graphics mods added.

    The big difference...the resolution. Even with all the graphics settings on low, the game just looks so much more crisp and detailed.

    Resolution isn't the only important thing to a good looking game, but it is an important part.

  14. Pretty sure Tomb Raider is actually rendered in 1080p. Personally I think it's the best looking game on the Xbox One currently.

    Titanfall and Ryse still look good though, and my graphical preference has nothing to do with any games resolution.
