Simple question on Xbox One headset adapter

Hi all,

I think there is some confusion on how the new headset adapter for Xbox One works, and in fact it is not totally clear to me.

I have a simple question: I have a Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones, which come with a standard 3.5 mm stereo jack. If I plug this into the Xbox One headset adapter, will I be able to hear the game sound? And the multiplayer chat?

The Bose headset also comes with an additional cable with a microphone and 3.5 mm stereo+mic jack. Again, if I plug this into the Xbox One headset adapter, will I be able to hear the game sound? And the multiplayer chat? And will I be able to use the mic
to chat as well?

Ok, 1st question. Have you updated your controllers firmware with the headset plugged in?

Another question, have you toggled the mute button to make sure you don't have yourself muted?

Hi I've got really good deal on Asus Cerberus Headset so if I have the xbox one headset adapter would that headset work?Same question for Plantronics GAMECOM 388 and PDP Afterglow AGU.1

 

I have had a look on line not much on these, but found someone wanting to know the same things as you, all he was told was there should be no reason why the shouldn't work, if you have them i would give it a go, just remember the headset adapter isn't the
greatest thing MS have come up with.

 

Ok the most important thing for me is that the game audio, and not only the game chat, goes to the headset, so I can set the tv on mute and not disturb while playing. Is this the case when using a standard stereo headset with the Xbox adapter?

I heard rumours some time ago that only the in-game chat would go into the headset, unless a dedicated one is used.

What I find confusing in the description of the headset adapter is the following:

"Plug your favourite compatible headset into the Xbox One Headset Adapter and hear the action the way you like it. Easily adjust chat audio without taking your hands off the controller. Add game audio by connecting your third-party headset directly to your
console or TV."

So it seems that if I use a third-party (my Bose) headset, I would still need to connect it *directly* to my TV or console to hear game sounds? What is the point of the adapter then?

Can someone clarify please?

Hello,

I just got my issue solved. If you do use the Xbox One Headset Adapter, you will need to update the controller. After that, you'll be all set to plug in your headset.

From my understanding, as long as your 3.5 mm jack has 3 bands on it, it will work. You do not need to plug it into the TV or the Xbox One. You just need to plug it into the jack. If you wanted to use optical or rca, and your headset supports it, you will
be able to. I believe that is what they are referring to. Hopefully this helps!
