Silent Hills (Why the S?)

Like I Just said in a different thread. I don't care about Tomb Raider or Silent Hill being exclusive to whatever platform. I'll be getting them both day 1 either way.

 

Hello everyone

The last Silent Hill game that I played was Homecoming, and it was "just okay". I haven't played Downpour yet, but my favorite game is the 3rd one followed closely by the 1rst one then the 2nd one

I hope that the next Silent Hill game is going be more than "just okay".

I really hope Silent Hills comes to Xbox One. I don't care if it's a timed exclusive for PS4, I just want to play it! I do have a feeling that it will be multiplatform, as I would have thought Sony would have already stepped in to say so. All we know is
that the Teaser is Only on PlayStation. Anyway, I think the teaser looks great and it actually did creep me out, and I wasn't even playing it. While I still enjoy horror games such as Outlast, I just don't find them very scary. Other than Silent Hills, The
Evil Within is the only horror game in recent years that looks kinda creepy, not not on the same level as P.T. or Silent Hills.

I am glad that Silent Hill may, once again, be scary!

 

I wouldn't call it AAA... maybe B+

I love the Resident Evil series and Silent Hill series, but unfortunately Resident Evil converted into the Shooting Gallery phenomona. The last "real" Resident Evil game was Code Veronica.

Silent Hill is the only survival horror game now that didn't give into the "shooting gallery" phenomona because Silent Hill: Homecoming didn't implement such game mechanics as customizing your weapons & buying ammunition; which was then carried over in the
Game Plus Mode. I've never played Silent Hill Downpour, but as far as I know is still hasn't succomed to the Shooting Gallery phenomona.

The "Dead Space" series isn't a Survival Horror game, it is a Action Horror game. I love the "Dead Space" series and in my opinion it is the only game that I've played that has successfully retained its scare factor while implementing the weapon customization
/ buying ammunition with a Game Plus Mode.

I too hope to see a new Silent Hill game for the Xbox One

You might want to check your facts there. Sony were doing this long before Microsoft got into console gaming.

A "Silent Hill Definitive Collection" (Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3 anniversay treatment remake) for the Xbox One would be an instant buy for me

While I do agree that Resident Evil has transformed into the action genre, I do still enjoy the newer games and will forever remain a big fan. P.T. - To become Silent Hills - does look great and it's pretty creepy and psychological, which is what a good
horror game needs. I also agree with the "Silent Hill Definitive Collection" you mentioned. The only problem is that I think many people will be put off the collection as we all know of the problems the Silent Hill HD Collection had. This, however, would give
them the perfect opportunity to iron out all them bugs and make the games what they should've been in the first place: A definitive experience. I think it should also contain Silent Hill 4: The Room though, as I think it's a great game (but I am sure others
will disagree)

 

The biggest problem is Microsoft isn't willing to spend the big bucks to secure exclusive deals...well other than COD crap but I find it laughable how Sony said they don't need to spend oney on exclusivity when they've been doing the same ever since 2014
rolled out with Destiny, Life on mars or whatever that dumb*** space game is etc...Sony is willing to spend more to grab the fanbase which is why their machine is built with better ram, gpu etc. Hopefully, and I keep hoping, Microsoft still has a few tricks
up their and as PC software guys for 2 decades, I can't believe that they don't have DirectX12 and their servers in sync for something to finally counter all the critics and competition's downplay on the Xbox One.

 

I couldn't even finish the demo tbh. It was too much for me in the scare factor but I loved it. It's more or less what I want to see. The atmosphere and subtly were perfect. And I adore the head twitching. <3

Overall, it was nice to see a Lynchian vibe return again. I don't think I've been this excited for the series in a long time.

I have never played much of the Silent Hill games, but from what little I do remember was a very creepy and dense fog, a lone radio still with power, and a massive and decrepit hotel. It must've been terrifying because I'm pretty sure I blocked everything
else out.

I have seen the movie though - the scenes in that film are truly out there and still give me the heebie-jeebies every time I watch it.

I never finished Silent Hill 4: The Room (I got halfway through the game & then lost interest in it).

I agree with you, that it is a great game; but it wasn't my perverbial "cup of tea" when compared to the Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3.

@dwoop it's basic business sony have the biggest share of the market, they don't have to pay as much as ms do.

I can't see this being exclusive though, maybe timed or another marketing deal.

The pt demo is freaky, can't wait for it.
