Signing up for Xbox Live

Whenever I try to sign up for Xbox Live it says this, "Sorry, this action can't be performed at this time. Try again later. Visit
www.xbox.com/support for more information. 80154058." I also have redeemed a code for Xbox Live Gold online and I am wondering how I can transfer it to my Xbox 360.

Could have just been a glitch on the website. The information it gives doesn't have any information for what the error is.

Have you tried through the console? What error message/code do you see there?

-First you should create an xbox live account on your computer.

-Go to xbox.com - Log into your account.

-Once logged in select the "support" tab at top of page.

-Scroll a little and select "my account"

-After my account is selected, you can create an xbox live account, manage it or sign into it.

-Once your account is created you login to your profile on your xbox and then upload an already existing xbox live account.

-When it prompts you to enter a password after entering your email you may need to set an app password if your regular microsoft password doesn't sign you in.

To do so follow these instructions:

-Go to account.live.com and log into your microsoft account.

-Under "security & privacy" select "change password and more"

-Scroll down to "App passwords" and click "create new app password"

-This will generate an automated password that you'll see pop up on the screen.

Finally use this password to login to your xbox live account.

You cannot use microsoft points to buy xbox live subscriptions!

You will need to start up a subscription with either a credit card, or you could buy a prepaid xbox live gold code.

Well, that was pretty dumb of me. I hadn't tried it since I hooked up the Xbox this morning... Purchasing it on the console worked fine. But, I'm still kind of curious as to why I was getting that error when trying to buy it online.

Each profile must have a unique microsoft live email. So follow Real JBlazes instructions or if you want a second profile for any reason, you will need a new Microsoft Live ID.

Hmm any stores near you that sell xbox live products?

They would have Pre paid gold codes that you would be able to use.

But no, you will be unable to buy a Xbox live Gold Subscription with microsoft points, it seems the shop is ill-informed.
