Signing into my account online shows different GamerTag

I’m positive I’m logging in with the right information, as I checked the email on my xbox one. But when I log into xbox.com or the xbox ios app, it shows a different gamertag and picture, ones that have never been accosiated to my account. My xbox still
has the correct gamertag and picture as I’ve always had so I’m not sure what to do

Gamertag on XBOX 360 is different than XBOX Live - both signed in with same WLID.

I am logged into XBOX Live on my XBOX 360, with my Windows Live ID. My Gamertag shows as one name, but when I go online, on my PC, to XBOX Live and sign in with the same WLID, it shows a different Gamertag. My account info seems to be the same (email, name,
etc...), but my points and games played, etc... are different (the one on my PC shows as zero activity).

How do I get both my Live account on the console and my Live account online to show the same gamertag? I want my online account to show the same gamertag as the one on my console. The one online is a random given gamertag.

If a different Gamertag is tied to your live account, it sounds like you may have entered the incorrect Microsoft account when signing into your Xbox One. Do you have a different e-mail you can try signing in with?

Xbox may have changed your GT because it broke tos. You may need to check the email associated with that GT.

But do you sign in with the correct Microsoft account? It shows you a random gamertag?

If you sign in to the Xbox website with the same Microsoft account, does it show you a different gamertag?

Have you tried setting up a new Microsoft Account with your son's new email and switching his gamertag to this account online? Here's a link to a guide showing how to do this step-by-step:

You'll want to read these two support pages. The first shows you how to promote your account to Adult status and the second shows you how to change the Microsoft Account (i.e. e-mail) tied to your gamertag. This is different than a notification e-mail.

Hey Catty. It seems you signed in with a different Microsoft Account, as your gamertag is showing as one of the auto-generated ones. Could your old XBL account be tied to a different email by chance?
