Signing in to Xbox App on Work Laptop

Hi

I am on a managed work laptop that has a default microsoft "work or school" account signed in which I cannot change.

I can install the xbox app but cannot sign in, When I hit the sign in button the sign in pop up window's background flashes 4 times in about 5 seconds. I believe it's trying to sign me in via my work account which probably has the app blacklisted. I have tried this with adding my personal account as a secondary in the Settings/Accounts section and with my personal removed, no difference.

Is there any way around this?

You have to address it with your IT department or device manager

Windows enforces policies set by your policy manager and no you can't bypass it

It's by design MDM

and windows policy

It would lose a lot of business for ms if you could bypass windows security policies more then any consumer sales as business sales is the majority of ms business

Anything from leaking of confidential information to trade secrets which is NOT GOOD for any mdm

I realize that this probably isn’t the answer you want to hear, but you should definitely consult with your IT department about this, as many businesses do not allow you to use work laptops for recreational purposes, and they could be monitoring what is installed on your work computer, I know that’s how it works at many companies

Yes I believe so. When I go to Setting->Accounts in the Xbox app, in the "Store Account" section is has my personal logged in and my Ultimate Game Pass is visible in subscriptions, however in the "Microsoft Account" section it has the sign in button instead of any account. Clicking on the sign in button prompts the 3 blank sign in pop ups to appear and disappear in a few seconds.

My next question would have been to see if you can download gaming apps from the Microsoft Store App without the Xbox App downloaded.

And to be honest, I do recommend doing what the others have said here. I’m retrospect, gaming allows a variety of behaviors that can allow information to be quickly shared like screen sharing, party chat, and messaging in a network owned by Microsoft. If parameters have been set to deny a network access to communications to retain and secure a “meets compliance” state then it can cause issues. This can also be true if your Windows is and enterprise or company version and can further block apps even if your personal account is present.
