Signing in issues to my son's xbox 360 live account

I'm having the same issue. My son has an xbox 360 with an offline profile. I'm trying to convert that to a live account. I tried signing up for the live account from the console and was unable to continue because of the age restriction. So I went online
and eventually figured out how to create a child live account (an unnecessarily cumbersome process). I then logged back into the console with my son's profile and tried to sign in to the live account. That just takes me back to the profiles screen. So I
logged into the profile again and tried to sign up for xbox live. I was able to complete the sign up process but received an error about the email address being associated with an existing account. So, does anyone know the exact steps I need to follow to
convert my under-13 son's offline profile to an xbox live profile. This really shouldn't be so difficult.

Figured it out. My account is the only one on the 360 with LIVE, and we were trying to load it while my son was signed in to his non-LIVE account.

no this is an xbox 360 and an older model. Could that be the issue? My son can sign in to Live on his profile and play anything but not my profile. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Hi ripflip43, You seem to have a very frustrating issue which should be fixable by
Xbox Support and you can contact them clicking here they will handle this issue with you as they will have direct access with your account and your sons account so be sure to have account information ready when they ask for it.

Each time my son tries to sign in on his Xbox: "Add security, Want to sign in with email and passowrd?" and goes through the procedure, he received this error message:

"Account info. before you can sign in here, you will need to sign in a Xbox.com. Your parent will also need to sign in so they can give permission Code 83118853"

Is this sufficient info to describe Service Status?
