Signed in but cannot get into Live

The other day my friend told me he was kicked off of Live and was unable to sign back in. I tried logging into his account on my laptop (as I created the account for him when I sold my One to him last month). and had no issues so it was not account related.
I went to his house the next day and turned on his One and he was signed into his account but on the far right of the dashboard was JOIN XBOX LIVE and click on it it made a sound but nothing happened. So I logged out and back in same deal. I re entered his
password and after I hit enter he was back to normal in fact his game score when up 14 points from when he was playing offline. Is there any reason why he was getting that kind of error of being signed in but not able to do Live related stuff like access
the games with gold etc?

no xbox live connection outside of dashboard.

I am signed into my xbox live account on my dashboard but, as soon as I try to play multiplayer online a message states I must be signed into an xbox live account. I test the connection and there is no issue but yet, still cannot play multiplayer online.

 

I am connected to Xbox live on my Xbox 1 but I am unable to access it playing dragon age inquisition

Same Troubles here. Cannot play FIFA 14 and 15 online on xbox one !

This happens when the IP of the network is not picked immediately in the automatic sign in from the service servers. In such occasions just try to sign out and sign in again if that doesn't helps... I suggest you to remove the account from your console,
clear the console cache and download your account again.

According to your solution (re-enter credentials), I would say it is more likely that something went wrong with the encrypted session keys, or Kerberos tickets, that has to be created for authentication purposes. The fact that it was locally related would
point to the Kerberos tray, which is a small area of memory which contains generated Kerberos tickets, and which are kept for a short period of time. A Kerberos ticket granted ticket is then used to gain access to resources on a particular network, such as
Xbox Live.

I know you only wanted to help your friend, but sharing ones credentials is a no-go.

 

As the Kerberos protocol was originally designed, a master key for a user was derived from a password provided by the user. When a user logged on, the Kerberos client on the user's workstation accepted the password from the user and converted it into an
encryption key by passing the text through a one-way hash function. The resulting hash was the user's master key. The client used this master key to decrypt session keys received from KDC.

The problem with the original Kerberos design is the client needs the user's master key each time it decrypts a session key from the KDC. That means either the client must ask the user for the password at the beginning of every client/server exchange, or
the client must store the user's key on the workstation.

Hence this is an issue with the servers identifying the client and the client need to reenter his credentials to be identified (The log out, log in solution) or when the credentials of someone else are stored (to clear the cache before trying again)

I don't share credentials with him I helped him set up the account cause he never had a console that used Live before. and when he could not log in I just tried it on my end to see if it was something like entering his password wrong. when I saw that
I could log into xbox.com with no issues that was what i thought it was. and I also wrote down his email/pass for him so if he has a similar thing happen he can enter it himself.
