Sign out remotely.

You don't have to do that if your console does not start up as it would be impossible to follow those instructions if the console does not start. That email is an automated message for basically any service order for consoles. Just send in the console by
itself without any attachments or cables. Make sure to keep the power and HDMI cable with you and do not send them in. Only send in the console needing a repair. If the service team can get the console to power on, they will factory reset to defaults as part
of the procedure but as an Xbox Ambassador mentioned, your saved data and games are tied to your Microsoft Account, so everything will sync back once you add your account to the Xbox when you get it back. If the service team cannot fix the issue, they send
a replacement console that is tested to make sure it works as intended.

I’m sorry to say, but both of the previous responses are totally incorrect. There is no way to remotely sign out or remove your profile from a console you don’t have physical access to. That said, if you want to prevent your profile from being used on a
console you no longer have access to, all you need to do is change the password of the Microsoft Account that is associated with your Gamertag. More info at the links below :

You can download the Xbox app and use it as a remote to sign out but I might've misunderstood you're issue if so pls in form me.

Thank you. I have to send my xbox for repair because it won’t start up and microsoft sent me an email with instructions. They say I have to back up, sign out and send the xbox. I don’t really know if I have to do that if it won’t start up.
