    Hi Friends,

    I think it is about time Microsoft allowed gamers to sign in to their Xbox Live accounts with various options don't you think?

    I quit gaming about 2 years ago in order to focus on my job and other life stuff. At the time I had closed my Microsoft account not realizing it was associated with my Xbox gamertag...

    Fast forward to present day (obviously 60 day grace period is long gone) I'd like to start gaming again, continue with the same gamertag with all my achievements and gamerscore in tact.

    Unfortunately it doesn't work that way Sign in via Xbox Gamertag :(

    It turns out that once a microsoft account is closed and untouched for the duration of the grace period; that is it... No more access. (Keep in mind I still remember the email AND password used to associate with my gamertag).

    Then how is it when I use xboxgamertag.com to search up my gamertag it is still alive and well with all achievements, gamescore etc?

    So I guess this means I'll never get this account back?

    I'm not the only user with this issue, how can gamertags and gamerscores still be active if microsoft accounts associated with them have been closed?

    If my one is still floating in the cloud somewhere then surely I would like to access it once more and get some gaming done...

    This is where my opinion matters in saying, "SIGN INTO XBOX VIA GAMERTAG"

    Lets shed some light on this topic shall we?

    Gamertag is . I was signed in via mixer app with that gamertag. Same account as mds3u.

    How to change gamertag without having a Xbox360 console?

    You can only change your gamertag on Xbox LIVE via the Xbox 360 Console. The only way you can change a Gamertag online is via Xbox.com when you first sign up to the Xbox.com website and Xbox LIVE, other than that there is no other way but the Xbox console.

    Also in order to be able to retrieve your Original Xbox Gamertag. You will need the Windows LIVE ID details associated with it in order to be able to recover it (on an Xbox 360 console) or sign into the Xbox LIVE app for Windows Phone.

    - Accessible via the Guide or the Main Dashboard

    + Via Guide

    1) Open the Guide, press the big Silver button with the X to do this

    2) Scroll Left to most left Blade (Tab)

    3) Scroll down to Account Management

    + Via Main Dashboard

    1) Go to My XBOX Channel by scrolling up or down

    2) Scroll 1 to the right

    3) Press A

    4) Account management is either on that tab or the one immediately to the right

    I think Account Management is only available when you already have a gamertag on the system that's signed in. Account Management does not allow creation of new gamertags. To create a new gamertag:

    + Via Guide

    1) Open Guide with no gamertags signed in

    2) Scroll down to Create Profile

    + Via Main Dashboard

    1) Go to My XBOX with no one signed in

    2) Scroll 1 to the right and press A

    3) Scroll through the tabs until you reach Create Gamertag

    Solved my problem by downloading my gamertag via Xbox 360 and could sign in to Xbox Live Gold and download Crysis 2.
