"Sign in or renew subscription" error when launching

Thanks @demon5within, if we bought Minecraft I presume that would start working again?

Like I said he only plays a few games and those he does he wants the online multiplayer function

If they were games he downloaded using the games pass he will need to get games pass again sadly to play them as that's the expired subscription. Best bet is to upgrade to ultimate and have both game pass and gold if you dont want to buy individual games again.

Live and gamepass are two separate subscriptions ones for games other for playing multiplayer online best to order (Gamepass Ultimate) it combines both.

Solution 2: Try launching the game again

1. Go to Home by pressing the Xbox button.
2. With the focus on the game tile, select the Menu button.
3. Select Quit.
4. Wait at least 10 seconds, and then try launching the game again.

Solution 3: Restart your console

To resolve this problem, try restarting the console:

1. Double-tap the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the guide.
2. Scroll down and select Settings.
3. Select Restart console, and then select Yes to confirm.
4. After your console has restarted, sign in and try launching the game again.
