  1. Sign-In Issues with Xbox Application on Windows 10

I'm used to using the Xbox Console Companion and Xbox Game Bar applications on Windows 10 for the majority of my needs, but since the Xbox Console Companion application now indicates that in order to access messaging between my Gamertag and other users, I must now use the "new Xbox App". I downloaded the new Xbox application, and like the Console Companion application, it opens with the splash-window of my user information, Gamertag, etc, and "Let's Play" or "Switch Account". I choose the "Let's Play" option, obviously, and it brings me to the application's general feed, info, etc. screen I imagine everyone sees. It initially shows my Gamertag information in the top left corner, but then almost immediately that information disappears and displays only "Sign In". If I click on it - nothing happens, except that it opens a drop down menu that looks like this:

If I click on Settings, it gives me everything I'd expect to be able to ... well... sign in with, but none of the buttons do a darn thing and it's frustrating to say the least. This is what it looks like - I've censored stuff I'd personally consider private information for obvious reasons.

Once again, if I click any of the "Sign In" buttons found on this page or any of the other submenus in the settings pane, as is seen for "notifications", "audio", etc, literally nothing happens. I have no further services/applications to install that was initially found under the "General" tab of the Settings pane, and since installing the handful of services/applications it requested, the machine has properly been restarted. And before anyone asks, yes, this machine is as up-to-date it can be - and yes, I have checked.

This is what the application looks like when there is a fresh installation, before it goes into this "sign-in", functionless state where I'm not signed in, but it has my information in order to sign in... but not really? IDK.

Shortly after a brief intro where my information is clearly logged-in, clearly totally good to go - it all reverts back to "sign-in" and unable to proceed with actually undergoing successful signing in. I find it interesting that it indicates that it believes that there's an issue with installing or launching games - all of which vanishes once it no longer has me "signed in", and I have managed to click that "fix it now" link one time where I was damn fast enough to catch it. And it led me to the world's most vague and unhelpful page to fix the issue it believes it has: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/games-apps/troubleshooting/troubleshoot-games-windows-10 .... It's interesting that it behaves in this way, since it almost expects or detects that something is awry, but there's no indication of any error, no bulletin or warning to indicate an issue that needs resolving from a troubleshooting standpoint or anything... but it prompts you to fix something with the world's most unhelpful page ever.

I am turning to the Xbox/Microsoft Community for guidance here. I can still log-in and use the Console Companion application without issue - except that I'm lacking a messaging capability since that feature has moved on to this new, clearly-problematic application, and that's what leads me to my current dilemma.

I have followed countless other discussions found on this topic both here, through YouTube and through the "Ask a Gamer" function I found upon my initial inquiries for assistance via the support options on the Microsoft Gaming Support Help webpages that I was led to.

I have run through command prompt to check for validation / integrity issues with the /scannow command. - no issues.

I have double and triple and quadruple checked, reset-to-disable... and reset-to-enable any potential relative services for Gaming Services, IP Helper, Microsoft Store related services, Xbox related services, and so on.
I have run through credentials manager and deleted the XblGrts|DeviceKey entry.

I have set the associated account to be prompted when any application requires its log-in credentials.

I have dumped out all potential cache / account information from the relative subdirectories found under Program Files.

I have followed through on a reset of the Xbox Application's information through the Apps & Features in system settings.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Xbox Application itself.

I have followed through the powershell commands to have the Xbox Identity Provider obtain new and remove old AppxPackage.

I have undergone the "reset and repair" function of the Xbox Application through the Apps & Features system settings.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all secondary services/applications relative to the Xbox application - such as the Gaming Services and the Xbox Live in-game Experience applications.

    This is absolutely ridiculous.

I am at odd's ends. I don't know what else could possibly be the issue, what could possibly be a solution. I'm open ears because I'm about to pull my hair out.

Yes, my Xbox Gamertag is working and is paid for. It works on my Xbox One. It works on the old Xbox application that's on this same desktop computer. It works on my Xbox One application on my Android. This machine isn't on a VPN, so there goes that idea.

This desktop sports Windows 10 with the 22H2 update. It's as up-to-date as it gets, I reckon.

I look forward to any responses any of you can offer. I thank you for your time and I appreciate any input on this matter.

**Edited because I forgot that last thing I tried - the uninstall/reinstall of secondary services and applications.

    :)

    A) I have done this, and it doesn't do any good. No change.

    B) I attempted this - and there are some differences ... but the end result is the same - can't sign in. I click the "sign-in" feature on the application, and it literally does nothing. The only difference here is that the application doesn't recognize or show any association with my account whatsoever. I presume it's a totally blank slate of an installation to the machine, and had no credentials to hit the ground running with - but this is only an assumption based on what I have available

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this TRAUMASAURUSREX

May i know if you already tried reinstalling the Xbox identity provider app?

Press Windows + X, then click on Windows Powershell (Administrator)

Then type or copy/paste this command and press enter:

    Get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider | Remove-AppxPackage

Restart your PC and install the recently deleted app:

    https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/xbox-id...

Finally go to Windows Settings > Apps and Features > Xbox app > Reset and Repair, then restart your PC and give it a new try.

If that doesn't work please also try these tutorials:

If you already tried that and as you ready tried running the SFC tool, please try doing an in-place upgrade for your system (don't worry, your content will remain)

Yes, unfortunately in this case you may need to skip this last step.

A workaround for this, and if your machine is powerful. You can try creating a virtual machine for Windows using the Hyper-V tool or other third party virtualization tool

If you want to give this a try, check this article:

I downloaded that application. I opened it and it appears to not have any issue with pulling up and signing in my Gamertag information just as readily as the Console Companion application does. Evidence of that:
