Sign in fails to send code

I updated my Microsoft password and have had to re sign in for several apps, but have run into a problem. When I go into Flight Simulator I get the banner to sign in to Microsoft and it shows that it will send a code to my e-mail. However when I click the send code button the button shows I've clicked it but then nothing happens. The banner just stays the same. It doesn't go to the enter code banner and the code doesn't get sent to my e-mail. I've tried re-doing this over 3 days but still the same result. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flight Simulator but there's no change. Any help would be much appreciated.

    :)

    Thanks Josef.

I hadn't recently had an update for \flight \sim and it usually does these once you get into it. I'm not getting that far it just gets to the start where I see the company intros then when it goes to start I get the Microsoft sign in banner that wants to send a code to my e-mail. When i click the send code button it just stays at that point and doesn't move on to the enter code screen. Also the code doesn't get sent to my e-mail even though it shows the correct one.

The version I'm running is the Steam version and I've looked on the Steam community but seen nothing like this problem.

I did change my Microsoft password just before this happened and Flight Sim may still be trying my old one. However, I can't see where i can change it for Flight Sim. The change worked everywhere else and i can sign into Microsoft fine.

Thank you both for your help but unfortunately it hasn't resolved the problem.

Josef, I followed the instructions but in the last step I haven't got an xbox app to reset.

Also RainingRoses I haven't got the files you suggest in items 1 and 3 and wasn't able to find a setting where it asks to use an account in item 2.

It appears to be a specific problem with Flight Simulator as I can access my microsoft account directly with no problems.

    That's odd...
Do you know if flight sim received recently an update?

Also, what version are you playing? The one from steam or the Microsoft store / Xbox app version?

If you try creating a new local administrator user in your PC and try from there, the issue persists?

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this Dave

Please try each of the following options:

Press Windows + X, then click on Windows Powershell (Administrator)

Then type or copy/paste this command and press enter:

    Get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider | Remove-AppxPackage

Restart your PC and install the recently deleted app:

    https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/xbox-id...

Finally go to Windows Settings > Apps and Features > Xbox app > Reset and Repair, then restart your PC and give it a new try.

If that doesn't work please also try these tutorials:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix...

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

    Or try this (RainingRoses response):

"Try the following options for Windows 10/11:
    1. Go to Credential Manager (https://support.microsoft.com/windows/accessing...) > Windows Credentials (not the Web option), select XblGrts|DeviceKey and remove.

    2. Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts. Select your account with the issue and verify that the ‘Apps need to ask me to use this account’ setting is enabled. This would especially help if you have multiple accounts as you would have the option to choose the correct account on startup, but you can always change it back to the automatic option if you prefer. You can also try to remove the account from here and re-add it later.

    3. Follow this file path: C:\Users\[Your Username]AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\TokenBroker
Delete the Accounts and Cache folders, which will be deleted from the Xbox Identity Provider

Note that the highlighted code in this file path depends on your system so may vary.
If you don’t see a particular folder, then confirm there’s no search filters applied and select ‘show hidden items’, or you can just search for the folder in the search bar.
Restart your PC after trying the above steps, so that these properly take effect next time you sign in. It may also help to then reset and repair and/or uninstall and reinstall the Xbox apps where this error occurs."
