Sign-in and screen issue. Never heard about this before. Please help me fix.

Ok, so I have no Idea where to start so I will walk step by step of what happened.

First the xbox turned on normal like usual. Then it asked me to sign in like usual. When I pressed that home button to pull up the menu. It did nothing the first time. Second I pressed it, it then appeared. When I tried to select my profile, it did not highlight
anything. Then I realized that it was still controlling the background while the menu was open on the left. I did not let me control anything in the menu while it was open, but let me control the background. I tried going into the setting but did not let me
sign in from the setting. I then did a restart from the settings. When it restarted everything on my screen was black, but when I press the home button the menu popped up on the left. I can now control the menu, but still could not sign in or control the background
when the menu was cleared. I tried a factory reset with using the power, sync, and eject button. After the hard reset happened, it still is happening. Both of these problems alternate when I either turn my xbox off or restart it.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, please tell me if you know how to fix it.
