    No, it's not possible. If the controller was made specifically for the Xbox 360, then yeah, but the Sidewinder controllers were not designed for Xbox 360, so there is no chance of getting it to work.

    Personally I do much better with any sort of wheel than with the controller. I have the old MS force feedback wheel and pedals set, and also the wireless speed wheel. I do best with the real wheel and pedals, next best with the speed wheel, worst with
    the controller. I just find it really hard to steer precisely with the little joystick, and shifting with the buttons is a drag as well. However the fact that you've reached the top 1% with the controller shows you don't have much of a problem with it, so
    I doubt the speed wheel will make you faster. A real wheel/pedal set might though.
