Sick of PC Gamers sticking their nose into the Console Wars.....

I'm a console gamer and I do not like gaming on a pc. I don't care if others do.

 

They barely have any exclusives to boast about hence why they have to join in on the "console war". Plus even thought its wrong I find it funny when they get really bad ports of consoles games and there all up in arms they moan they cry and act like entitled
children.

I own a gaming PC. I do like PC gaming but I simply prefer consoles due to the exclusives the communities and the simple fact that I can simply slap the disk in my console and it will work. Like the other night I downloaded and installed Bioshock from Steam.
1 hour I sat there trying to get the thing to work. It would not stick to 1080p resolution or it would crash or the sound would bug out. In the end I gave up went over to my PS3 went threw my list of PS+ titles found Bioshock and played it not issues what
so ever. If I had it on 360 I would expect not to have any issues unlike the Pc version.

 

No exclusives huh? No offence mate but I could sit and name a hell of a lot of games that are only on pc! So I don't know where your coming from with that!

 

Oh and as for issues, I can't remember the last time I had any on a pc. It's not like the old days.

 

My PC 'just works' and why would I need to check for driver updates when Windows checks, downloads, and installs them all
automatically for me.

I just turn my PC on, right click on Steam or Origin in the System try and play my games.

This is all that matter in the end. I know someone who is quite content to play emulated PS1 games on their tablet.

I've ever seen someone use the 'glorious PC gaming master race' line in a serious manner.

The PC has tons of exclusive games, I genuinely don't know why you'd think otherwise. True the AAA variety tend to be in the RTS and MMO genres but they still exist.

The thing that puzzles me is people who say that they have these great gaming computers and then give a list of things that haven't been true
for ten or more years.

Hell I can't remember the last time I manually installed a driver on my PC. Usually I only find out it has even happened when I get a little notification pop-up from the system tray.

As I said above, all that matter in the end is that you are enjoying the games on the platforms you choose.

In regard to why PC gamers get 'involved' in console wars, its simple. The PC is a gaming platform too, so when discussing the pro and cons of gaming systems it really can't be discounted.

 

I'm in my PC about $500 including video card. That was 3 years ago. I can still play games at the same settings, which is usually close to the max, unless the game isn't designed to push limits like borderlands. Than it's highest settings.

This idea a PC needs constantly upgraded or a lot more expensive is a myth. It used to be the case, but not anymore.

This sounds like a jealous rant.

To some people a great pc now is a crappy pc in a years time. If you want a top of the line pc, you have to upgrade almost continuously. I'm happy with keeping my pc about a year behind. I can get all older upgrades I need off New Egg at sale price as
soon as the new stuff comes out and I can keep my pc upgraded to run any game I want to play. And whoever suggested buying a pre-assembled pc is basically suggesting to go out and get yourself grossly overcharged. If you are going to be a pc gamer, you are
going to have to open your case at some point and learn how everything works or you're going to get ripped off so bad it will make your mama cry.

 

I have to agree with Merlin. There is no way a PC built for $500, which is £300, would be playing games at near top settings today. Especially one built three years ago.

Truth, could you post the specs of this PC? You must have gotten some fantastic bargains.

 

$500? no...for a very DECENT pc, putting most your money into the video card, processor, memory and motherboard, you can do it for around $1500.

 

Depends on how you do it. The best option is your local PC store. Not your big chain but a smaller local business.

Most times they will give you a decent deal. Remember that they do have to make a profit as well, they don't have the loss leaders of the big chains.

Putting together a PC is easy, for me, but I absolutely understand why some folk see it as a daunting task.

Plus it is hell of a lot easier to get someone to replace a video card in their PC than it is to build it from scratch.

This is what pretty much everyone I know does. There
really is no need to have the latest and greatest kit in your PC.

The people who do are really more hardware enthusiasts, though of course they do game. Though they tend to focus on squeezing every little bit of power out of a piece of hardware that they can.

 

^not to mention most people buy PCs anyway, and any newer PC these days just needs a video card, so in many cases, PC gaming is the cost of a video card to an already existing PC.

 

I got my skills by working in the industry....well kind of. When you are working on your own machine it is a little scary. I got a job in the computer lab at the college I was attending and I had to upgrade computers all the time. After a while the fear
kinda goes away and you get more comfortable with it. I really wouldn't trust anyone to upgrade my computer for me. In fact, I really don't want anyone's grubby hands on my pc.

 

paid $350 for a pre-built HP (may have been a sale). CPU is an AMD A8-5500. Video card was $150 - 650 ti. The only think I might be off on is when I bought it. Could have been 2 years ago.

I may be able to find the receipt still.

I am actually starting to drift back to console gaming. I don't like hooking my PC up to my theater setup. Working with 3D and getting 5.1 surround from the PC is not as graceful as a console.

I absolutely agree. Everyone knows that PC's are more powerful, but they are High Maintenance. But to me, they dictate absolutely nothing. It is all about the big 3. Xbox, Wii, and the other one. PC's are what I consider the underground. Yeah, they
are "hot" so to speak. But they are really irrelevant. And they are the ones who generally bring up the discussion regarding Frames Per Second. And Resolution.
