Shutting down the XBOX question

Hi, I have Original Xbox One, I have it set to energy saving mode because I do not play very often. I was always wondering about something so let me ask this; Usually when I want to shut off the Xbox I just press the guide button and choose the option that says "Shut down console" However there is another way to do this by going into settings and selecting shut down from there, do they both serve the same function. I tried both and in both cases Xbox shuts down and the light on the power supply turns amber, so which is the best way to turn the console off.

To my experience, my console (with the same settings except for the auto-update) goes to sleep first when I shut it down. After a short period of time, it 'turns up' to fully shut down the console.

One last question if i hold down the xbox power button n my console to shut it down will this help or do i have to do your method

My question is what about the xbox live side of it?

Live for the original xbox was shut down so will there be some sort of live support for og xbox games?
