Shutting down repeatedly upon startup

I was hoping someone could help us....my boys have had their Star Wars Xbox 360 for a couple of years and we had issues with it shutting down. I ordered a new power source/plug and hoped that would solve the problem. Upon starting the console up it will
repeatedly shut down sometimes taking 7-10 times to finally keep it on. I plugged in into the wall and hoped this was the issue. It's not. I wasted $30 and the issue is worse....anyone else having this issue and what do we do to solve it?

Ok, i've browsed the forums a lot. And I've seen where miss portia and mister fitzer keep giving this link to the
xbox online service center.
YES...I HAVE DONE THOSE STEPS!!. I have the 4gb kinect ready system, who's hard drive does not slide out, thus ruling out that option. I turn it on and not even a second into the xbox animation it freezes, no lights just the center green dot. No noises,
no flashing lights, just frozen screen. So...any solutions that doesnt involve me going to the wizard that i stated above?

 

Sorry to hear it. Can you please try removing all storage devices that you have from the console and try starting it up?

If it starts without issue then add one storage device and restart. Continue doing this until you run into the problem again. If it happens then the issue is being caused by that storage device and it would need to be replaced.

If the console has this issue without the storage device attached then the console should be sent in for repair.
