Shuffle on XBox Music for WinPhones

Is it me or does everyone else only get +-1 letter from whichever song is selected when shuffle is enabled. For instance, if I am playing a song that starts with D, I only get songs that start with C, D, or E. This is easily confirmed by hitting the "list"
icon at the bottom of the screen to see the shuffle list.

At this point the button should be changed to "jiggle" vs "shuffle". Shuffle, since I've known shuffle, usually includes the entire alphabet.

I am currently running WinPhone 8.1 on a Nokia Icon with the latest patched version of XBox Music.

FYI, for Nokia owners there is an app called "Nokia Play to" which allows music to stream to any DLNA enabled device on the LAN. it doesn't have shuffle sadly, but hey, it seems to be nicer than Nokia MixRadio which from a n00b's perspective requires a
$30 upgrade or something to stream to DLNA?

Any way to shuffle play music from a playlist on M/S Surface in the XBox Music app?

Playing music from a Playlist in the Xbox Music app on my Surface, I do not see any way to play the songs in random order (shuffle mode) as I can with an iPod, for example.

Am I missing something? I see no menu item to initiate shuffle play.



It would be nicer to hear a shuffle instead of all the songs from one album, then all of another, etc.

How do I add entire genre to now playing in Xbox Music?

All I'm trying to do is add one genre to the now playing so I can use the shuffle feature. I can organize my collection by genre but if I use shuffle within my collection, it shuffles my entire collection and not just one genre. Please help; I'm tired of
listening to my music in the same order. It reminds me of the old days when music was on CDs.

P.S.: I could not find the correct area for Xbox Music on the Surface, but I'm Shure it is the same on Windows Phone.

 

For what its worth, I've also noticed that the current 8.1 version of Xbox Music certainly is certainly more jiggly than shuffly.

One thing I've noticed that *seems* to help is to click on songs and wait a while while it does its "Looking for Music..." stuff along the top, once that stops, drop back a screen and hit the shuffle/play button on the main screen of the app. (On the bottom
bar, next to search) This seems to improve things.

For example, my shuffle order just went

F,O,A,T,M,R.M,U,B

 

I have about 4k tracks loaded. Even after a 2hr car trip shuffle is still wiggle so the red dot theory doesn't support why shuffle is merely wiggle.

 

Hmmm.. Shuffle differences. Shuffle by a song wiggles, but shuffle from the "artist, songg, album, etc" screen actually shuffles. So the shuffle by song is bugged.

 

The update today is reported to fix this, apparently "shuffle" pre selected 100 songs and stuck with it. The update today removes that limit.

 

Now if only the bluetooth on the Icon wasn't a manual connection process every time I got into my car...
