Shrunken Icons for Xbox App Games

Warning: I'm going to try really hard to type and edit this so that its not a expletive-filled rant against all the complete garbage coding Microsuck and their subsidiaries do, but its gonna be hard because I hate their shoddy work with a burning fiery passion and would happily use any other operating system if I could get games to work reliably.

So, on a bootup my desktop icons were everywhere, because apparently the registry keys for horizontal and vertical spacing of icons had been randomly changed from default to maximum. Just Windows things. <Rant redacted>

In trying to fix that, before I realized the ACTUAL problem of the registry key randomly going wonky, I played with the desktop icon zooms (via both right click> view> large/medium small, and via highlighting icons and doing a [CTRL]+Mousewheel).

This action made the desktop shortcuts for the 3 games I have installed via the Xbox app be tiny versions of themselves inside a blue/grey background of normal-icon-size. Just those 3. Everything else was fine.

right click>Refresh on desktop does NOT fix this.

Uninstall/Reinstall does NOT fix this.

I cannot recreate the desktop shortcuts from the original executables because they live in the stupid encrypted WindowsApps folder, which I would have to take owndership of and potentially break most of Windows to even be able to READ.

So how do I fix this?

My current proposal is rebuy all these things on Steam, and let the Xbox app and the MS Store rot in the corner, unfed, shunned, and generally despised...as is right and good.

Show, hide, or resize desktop icons

Here's how to show icons, hide them, or change their size in Windows.

To resize the icons

Press Windows logo key + I key. Click on System. In Display tab, increase the percentage or bar under change the size of text, apps and other items.

Reset Windows 10 store & Xbox app

1. Open Settings.

2. Go to Apps -> Apps & features.

3. Look for Microsoft Store/Xbox App and click it on the right side.

4. The advanced options link will appear. Click it

5. Next, click on the Reset button to reset Microsoft Store/Xbox App to the default setting.

Also, you should have the ability to choose where you want to install your Game Pass games, as this was an update that was pushed out over a month ago. To do this

Open the Xbox App

Click on your profile and select Settings
Go to General
Under Game Install options, let me know if it allows you to choose different drives

You should be able also to name your folder and tell it where you want it to live within Windows. I would also highly recommend not to change things withing the registry as that can break the operating system.

Are you connecting an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One to the TV?

On some TVs, if an HDMI-connected device is causing a shrunken output, there should be a TV setting that adjusts "overscan", which adjusts the size of the output on the screen.

You should be able to right click the Chrome icon in My Games list and select remove game. If that's not working you can right click Xbox Companion app, select more, select App Settings and then reset the app. Then try the right click on Chrome icon in
My Games again.

Yes Gameshoes, all Wager modes have shrunken map boundaries, due to there only being a max of 6 players.
