Should you remove your hard drive before “Clearing Local Saved Games”?

I have a hard drive, and I’ve cleared local saved games before, but that was before I got the hard drive. So should I unplug the hard drive before clearing local saved games, or should I keep it plugged to my Xbox One?

    :)

    Hi ShinGojjira.

It'a fine to leave the external HDD connected.

    Hey there Galenrandir23,

    You can always try and
    Remove your account and Add
it back onto the console as this will resync your data and possibly help resolve the issue.

In regards to clearing your local saved games, as long as you are connected to the internet your games will always store locally to your hard drive and also to your cloud storage so clearing this will only remove your local saves but not your cloud saves.
You can follow the steps below to clear local saved games.

    1. Press the Xbox button
      to open the guide.
    2. Select System > Settings > System >
      Storage.
    3. In the left column, select:
      • Clear local saved games. This deletes games saved to your hard drive, but they’ll still be saved to the cloud.

Give this a try and let us know if it has helped.

Xbox 360 emulator on Xbox One X doesn't connect to internet (unable to login in backwards compatible games).

I understand, then what you should do is the following

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage.

On the Manage storage devices screen, select:

Clear local saved games. This deletes games saved to your hard drive, but they’ll still be saved to the cloud.

Clear local Xbox 360 storage. This deletes Xbox 360 games saved locally, but they’ll remain in the cloud.

What will I lose by clearing local saved data?

If you played while connected to Xbox LIVE it most likely saved to the cloud. I personally have never experienced any game save not automatically uploading to the cloud when saving. Everything should re-sync when loading Minecraft back up.

If you really want to be extra safe if you have a USB flash drive or any external hard drive laying around, you can always transfer your save files there before clearing your systems local saved data.

    Three red flashing lights.

Remove the hard drive or any other storage devices before sending the console in and your save games etc should be fine.
