Should Xbox Live Messaging have a points system before use?

Hello and welcome other user that using the forums. Reason I'm making this post is because of bot messaging lately that been happening and offer some what of solution. My suggestion to this is that you would need about 1,000 gamerscore before you can
ever start messaging anyone. Its really is reasonable because 1. You would need to either download and play a few games so we know it not bull, 2, Spent time using the Xbox live service aka not having a silver account. 3. Those bots will stop completely with
Denial of service.

Cant Send Voice Message?

Agreed. Should have voice messaging. No reason other than $$$ not to. With that being said it is more shocking that we literally have the most archaic text messaging system available. Voice to text with the Kinect should have been a launch feature. Like
I said before, my phone in GTA has a better text messaging interface than the console. Really shocking.

Have Microsoft 'f*cked' up the messaging system on Xbox live because they are having a new year gasm?

 

This is a good idea and has a real good reasoning to help prevent these type of attacks. I can also see where this could be a problem where new gamers could not communicate with other when they first startup. A good example of this is where I use it with
my grandkids (younger 4,5,7, and 10) who live in a different state. We use this as our primary means of connecting with each other in private games matches and through the xbox app on the phones for messaging. It would prevent this until they played enough
to get communications. I do like the idea and don't like the idea both. I do believe that Communications both written and audio should only be party a paid subscription.

I would support this idea if it would help stop the bots! I work in the Computer Security industry and know all to well who hard it is to deal with these issues.

 

I can understand your concern but this will not affect party chat or voice chat this only for messaging which silver bot users to spam messages. It not hard to get 1000g Roblox is a good example. Free game with gamerscore. So your kid can still talk with
each other in party just not message till reaching that goal posted. Think of it how steam you have to pay 5 dollar to a game to keep your account from being deleted. One time thing everyone can get though with.

 

Problem is you can get 1000gs in an hour or less on certain games now.

It wouldn't be difficult for the people who run these phishing scams to employ a few people to get 1000gs on accounts.

What about the legit people who create accounts just for things like Netflix or other apps?

Accounts are just used on xbox live either,they can be used on other services.

The whole spam/phishing accounts thing happens every so often & always gets dealt with.

You're never going to prevent people from trying scams.YOu can put one set of rules in & they'll always find another way.

 

Avatar anyone? Plus there are already enough people who mod 360 achievements as it is. They'd just do it to be able to message too.

 

Sadly, it is an issue that will be hard to solve, and worst yet some gamertags will be used and locked out for years without any real use, But yet not available to a real gamer...
