Should I get an Xbox 360 or Xbox One?

XBOX one has backward compatibility already. More games get dumped into the list for preview members in September and October and November for the rest. So XBOX1 should be a easy choice. Also confirmed all 360 free games with gold will be backward compatible
right away. Well at least for preview members.

 

Why not get both?

If you look around you can pick up a used 360 Slim, or E model for less than a hundred bucks. And also an Xbox One for often less than 200. (Pawn shops, Craigslist etc)

Pawn shops offers a 30 day warranty, so if you get home and connect to XBL and the console is banned, you can return it for another.

So for some 300 bucks you can get both, often with a library of games included. Just be sure to try them out before finalizing the deal.

Point is. You don't have to buy NEW in order to enjoy console gaming!

 

I'd recommend the XB1 - it has more options overall (not necessarily games though - yet) and is set up for the future, whereas the future of the 360 is uncertain.

 

it really depends on what you're wanting out of the experience, the 360 has a massive library of games, but is coming to the end of its support, so there will be a decrease in new games, the X1 has been out for almost 2 years and the games are starting to
flow, there is BC, but no one knows for sure which games will be coming to it, MS has put down the foundation, but the publishers have to give their stamp of approval.

i'd personally say to get a X1, there is a strong library of games, all future "Games with Gold" 360 games are going to be BC, and a pretty awesome line up of games coming that won't be on the 360, The Division, Quantum Break, Star Wars Battlefront, Scalebound
just to name a few.

 

Well, I have the Xbox One with the 1TB HDD, and it was a great buy for me.

 

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I'm definitely going to get an Xbox One. It makes more sense, plus I can't pass up on Gears of War Ultimate Edition.

I would recommend the Xbox one because the 360 has "outdated hardware" meaning the Xbox one is more of a focus to Microsoft and more things will be released on it instead of the Xbox 360 but on the other hand the Xbox 360 is a great console and does indeed
have a lot more of game selection than the one but the choice is yours

well I would get the Xbox one if anything because Xbox 360 backwards compatibility for the Xbox one so some of your games can be played on Xbox one plus Xbox one is the newer faster console

But it isn't the simple choice you claim. Backward compatibility is here but it looks like it will never been 100% on the One. So you'll end up with a massive collection of games that a person won't be able to play. Graphics don't matter after all so it
isn't as if he'd be losing anything between Rise of the Tomb Raider on 360 or One for example. While there will be some excellent exclusives coming down the line, they will still be there in the future, these games just don't vanish.

In fact buying the cheap 360 now, with its massive catalogue of cheap games would seem a great idea and would keep a person going until the end of the next generation, all where they could buy this really cheap console and its massive catalogue of cheap
games.
