Should I buy an Xbox 360 or Xbox One?

If saving for a couple of consoles is an issue for people then I would suggest that they likely aren't going to be using one of them in the first place.

I've been thousands in debt but worked my way out of it. I know the problems of being low income.

Saving is not an issue. Even if all you can put away is a couple of pounds a week.

Exactly. Glad to see you finally admit that the consoles are not cheap enough that buying both, or even one, will not be an issue for many many people.

@Malacarth, I have to agree with you... I mean, as much as I may want another Xbox 360, it is rather pointless now. The majority of games from the previous generation I have or can buy on PC (except for the console exclusives such as Red Dead Redemption),
and many games have been or are being remastered. New generation, new games, new experiences... I guess it's time to move on. Not to mention Windows 10 should be released to the public soon too. I guess I shall pick up an Xbox One when Halo 5 drops. Might
get a bundle, or perhaps a limited edition console... Possibly. I guess we'll find out at E3 this year.

Again it's nice that buying things, especially non essentials, isn't an issue FOR YOU. It still is an issue for much of the world however.

What makes you think it will only be supported on xbox live for another year?

The 360 is in a very different position than the original xbox was in.

The original xbox sold nowhere near as many consoles as the 360. Also there was only one killer multiplayer game which was Halo 2 and that worked on the 360.

The 360 on the other hand is still getting games released for it. And it still has a high multiplayer population.

Xbox live will still support the 360 for at least a couple of years yet. It wouldn't make any sense for them to stop supporting it as there are still hell of a lot of people with gold memberships who don't own an xbox one.

The 360 will get cheaper, but I'd go with the Xbox One first and get an Xbox 360 later on, maybe just to download all of your digital games and have them available whenever you want to play them. This is what I plan to do.

I'd buy both. The consoles are now cheap enough that doing so should not be an issue.

That way you have access to a massive back catalogue of great games as well as new releases for the One.
