Should I buy a Xbox One?

I believe this is research ElectroFlying. Asking the community of people may or may not own (why and why not) One is smarter than reading the Internet where it is the popular thing to do is bash the Xbox One. Also, I believe he may have even went to the
other side and seen what they have to say.

    1. Research thoroughly online about any purchase you are considering buying.

    2. Don't ask on a forum as you will only get biased opinions.

    3. Check thoroughly that said purchase will do everything you want it to do.

    4. Ask yourself what type of games you like to play and are said games on the device you are considering of purchasing.

    5. Ask someone who has a neutral view on said devices.

    6. Look at the big picture, ie longevity.

    7. Consider the amount of games in development on both devices.

    8. At the moment 2015 looks a lot better on the PS4 then XBOne. This is down to Sony's Gamescom presentation.

    9. Research the games in question.

    10. If you fancy a change on the next gen and the XBOne ticks all the boxes regards the media side and it has the types of games you want to play then go and buy a One.

  3. 1. Research thoroughly online about any purchase you are considering buying. - This depends on where and how one researches. IMO the only place to properly research a purchase
like this is the manufacturer's website (with an understanding they will put a positive spin on their own product of course). As often as we hear about 'click bait' sites... doing research on the internet is no better [or worse] than talking to individuals
    on forums.

    2. Don't ask on a forum as you will only get biased opinions. - This isn't always the case. TBH, it only takes a bit of common sense to read a post and determine if it's biased.
    As you'll see...

    3. Check thoroughly that said purchase will do everything you want it to do. - Absolutely one of (if not) the biggest factors to consider.

    4. Ask yourself what type of games you like to play and are said games on the device you are considering of purchasing. - Copy/Paste answer above.

    5. Ask someone who has a neutral view on said devices. - Is there such a thing? Generally, if I have 2 devices, I prefer one (that's called a bias). The only things I would honestly
have a neutral view on would be things I have little or no experience with. In which case, it wouldn't be advisable to ask me...

    6. Look at the big picture, ie longevity. - Definitely a consideration.

    7. Consider the amount of games in development on both devices. - I think this gets more merit than it actually deserves. I'm not saying it shouldn't be considered, but really...
unless the numbers are monumentally unbalanced, where one console has 8 games coming out and the other has 1200, it isn't going to matter as much to me unless I have nothing but time to play every single game they're making. That set aside, it's more important
to make sure the games that are in development are of interest.

    8. At the moment 2015 looks a lot better on the PS4 then XBOne. This is down to Sony's Gamescom presentation. - A direct contradiction to #2 and #5 of your own post. I don't
bother watching these presentations for reasons beyond the scope of this post... but in that aspect, I can give and honest, unbiased opinion which would be to watch both consoles' presentations and use that info to help make the decision.

    9. Research the games in question. - Advisable

    10. If you fancy a change on the next gen and the XBOne ticks all the boxes regards the media side and it has the types of games you want to play then go and buy a One. - Nice
attempt to seem neutral, but I'll point out #8 as proof otherwise.

Lol @Wild. You go through all of that, telling the OP he won't get an honest answer on forum's because we're all biased...... Then in the next breath You push the PS4 on the OP. I think it's plain to see who the bias person is.

I'm sorry if anyone feels I've wasted their time. I only posted because I wanted users answers regarding distance from the kinect and it's field of view and the controller etc. I don't know the specific answers but Microsoft may claim would need a minimum
distance of 1m but in real world scenarios users may have found it to be 1.5m distance. I would always regard the opinions and suggestions of paying customers compared to claims on a manufacturers website. I fully take on board what is being said though.

  7. @ Goat biased or unbiased that's your opinion.......

I watched both presentations by Sony and MS @ Gamescom and the opinion i formed from watching was.

MS are only gearing up till holidays 2014, outside this you got Halo Guardians and Quantum Break. A announcement about Tomb Raider but very little else. Where Sony showed a wider more diverse selection of games at the show.

Also they showed more of their line up in 2015, if that makes me biased then so be it lol.

But like anyone in this world if and when i am ready to upgrade then i want the best upgrade option for my money. Like any neutral gamer out their.

@Wild You are hilarious. I'll do like you and pretend Crackdown, Scalebound, Phantom Dust, the new Gears of War, Fable !egends and all those Chinese/Japanese exclusives don't exist to make it seem like MS doesn't have any games on the back burner lol. Sony
had no choice but to show stuff in the distant future because they don't have much coming out soon. Its their track record so I don't see the point in highlighting that tbh.

I have an Xbox One and a PS4. So I want exclusives from both platforms. But Burst Axe is correct. Microsoft is smashing Sony in upcoming exclusives. And yes, that includes 2015

^^ Just to play devils advocate MS is lagging behind to be honest. Sony does technically have more exclusives. Indie games are all the rage these days and clearly more gamers want indies over AAA games. But talking big budget titles, MS does have more announced
    exclusives.

  11. Didn't see much from MS for 2015 though. Well yeah Christmas 2014 MS have the upper hand but this won't always be the case.

Best way to look at it is this........

You want to play another Halo buy a One, You want to play another Forza game buy a One, if you want to play another Gears game buy a One and so on.

But it's the MS way release same franchises again and again and only release them holiday time. Ori and Sunset are the only difference. Forza Horizon 2 can be played on the 360 so no need to upgrade lol.

Wild. You have been negative about the X1 ever since the reveal last year. You try so hard to appear neutral but your just not fooling anyone.....especially the regular's here. I just don't understand why you feel the need to come to Xbox.com and try and
promote the PS4 all the time.

My opinion. Both consoles are good, I got the X1 at launch due to a better looking list of game's. The PS4 will come in a year or two, that's when it will have the better selection of game's for Me.

Should I buy a Xbox One?

@Wild in terms of AAA games for 2015 Xbox has TR, Halo, Crackdown, Phantom Dust and Quantum Break Announced. Ill leave Gears off because I dont expect that next year

    Bloodborne, The Order and UC4(possibly)

MS has the edge in big games for the rest of this year and next. Dont try to slant the truth. Sony has the indies covered but who really buys a $400 console to play 16bit looking games?

  14. MS showed a lot of those 16 bit indie games at Gamescom Commodore Amiga games that i played in the 80's. For anyone who can remember Team 17 was a regular on the Commodore Amiga.

    Gamscon announcements

    The Tomorrow Children

    Dayz

    Hellblade

    Hollowpoint

    Until Dawn

    Aliennation

    Tearaway Unfolded

    Wild

    The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter

    Ether One

    Microsoft 2015 announdements

    Screamride

so there you have it, Sony have more games in development for 2015. You want more new game news from MS well you have to wait E3 2015. This how Microsoft works. @ Goat i'm not negative about the one i posted honest open advice about buying a One i was
no way negative because i told him to buy a One in the end. But you want to twist my words hey that's fine, after all this isn't my community no more because i don't own or particular want a One right now. Besides the 360 forums are virtually dead these
    days.
