Should a gold XBox live gold subscription voucher be redeemed / applied to the parent or child ...

Just bought an XBox 360 for a child - and it comes with a one month sub to Gold - and a game that cannot be played unless you have a gold live account :| I've created the child account, was honest about the age and then was asked to create a parent account
    - which I have also done. Now I need to redeem the Gold voucher. Do I do this on the parent account or on the child account? Why is this not stated anywhere - it is an obvious question, no?

The fact that I don't intend playing - only supervising and the fact that the 360 does not support "Family / Home" gold live membership would suggest that I apply it to the child's account, but the terms and conditions that I have to accept when doing that,
suggest that it SHOULD be applied to the associated parent account.

    :)

Wait so you get 2 free games every month even if you stop paying for Gold??

Yeah, unless something has changed recently, you get to keep your Xbox 360 gold games.

But the Xbox One gold games you need to have an active subscription.

Here it is from the official Xbox site:

  3. renewing gold subscription

An Xbox Live Gold subscription at the moment can only be redeemed through an Xbox Live Gold pre-paid subscription card, or with a payment option (credit card or PayPal) attached to your gamertag.

You would need to add it to the account that is going to be playing on Live. So in this case you would need to add it to the child account.

Thanks - that's helpful... So I should ignore the following from the Ts and Cs:

1.5. What age do I have to be to use the Services? By using the Services, you represent that you have reached the age of “majority” where you live and agree to be bound by this Agreement or you are the parent or legal guardian of a minor that has an account
associated with yours and you are accepting this Agreement on their behalf. A Microsoft account is necessary to use the Services. You may need to accept other terms of use and provide additional information in order to use your Microsoft account with other
    Microsoft services.

To me, the above suggests that if I am accepting on behalf of a minor (which I am) then I should be doing it from my parental account...

That doesn't really have anything to do with where the gold is applied. That's just basically stating that the account is either old enough to use the service or has parental permission to use the service. By being the parent account, you've given your approval
    for the child account.

    FAMILY MEMBERS

That's old information and only applied to the now-retired Family Accounts.

If you have a child, you can still tie their account to yours by creating a child account (younger than 18) and then associating your account with theirs as a parental account. On Xbox 360, however, the other account will still need a separate Gold subscription.

(On Xbox One the Gold subscription can be benefited from by everyone through Home Gold.)

Gold family Pack: Adding time to 'child account'

    Hello,

If you're on a "Gold Family Account" then that would mean you'd simply add the person to the pack by following the instructions
here. You can't add a prepaid card to an account that is apart of the gold family pack because everyone has the
same amount of Xbox LIVE subscription time left as well as the same renewal date.

Unless you have what you're trying to do completely confused with something else.. If you're on separate gold subscriptions sign into the child's account on Xbox.com and visit this page
here. When entering the code to redeem it on the child account if memory serves correctly you should be prompted to sign into your own parental account before the code is redeemed.
