In the real world I can put 3 rounds in a 2 inch shot group at 100 meters but can't kill a dude 50 meters away in BF3. In fact, a 400 meter shot with open sights on a man sized target is not a big deal but in the video game it's virtually impossible.

And to go with the post above mine it is called a marksman sight, on the sight you will notice it has a point for 0-50 meters then the next one below that is 80 meters then the bottom is 100 meters or more...when I stopped to pay attention to this yesterday
it made a difference, then their is a perk under spider that improves accuracy, peace.

Last week I was sniping off the aircraft carrier on the map "Gulf of Oman" using an L96 + 12x scope + bipod I got one headshot for 756 meters *target was at Flag A* then about 5 minutes later I took out this dude on top of the construction building with
a head shot for a nice 1023 meter head shot.

Below is my battle log for proof if you so need it lol...I average with head shots of around 300-500 meters whenever I use Recon class.

Indeed. 800m headshots are about what most people get in BF3 with snipers. I imagine that's spitting distance for a trained Army marksman..

I've personally put 2 inch shot groups together at 100 meters with an Ithaca Deerslayer (has a rifled barrel) fitted with a scope and firing Hornady SST slugs. I also have a buddy that took a buck at 250 meters with the same exact weapon.
