Shipping costs while under warranty

Why do I have to pay for shipping when the console has a bad bluray drive and its under warranty?

I know this is an issue with the Xbox One because mine is the third drive to fail out of my friends who bought them.

MS,if you have a product that fails under warranty, take responsibility and repair it at no cost to us who already paid for a working unit.

What is technically "Modding" an Xbox 360?

Any unorthorised repair would be considered a 'mod' if it's found out. These repairs are in violation of the Xbox ToS. As for where the repair's are done, it doesn't matter. If your console is in warranty it will be repaired for free, they even cover
the shipping costs. If it is out of warranty, the price you pay also covers the shipping costs. The shipping cost is not dependant on your location. I'm fom the UK and our machines are sent to Germany!

Ridiculous UK Repair Costs!!!

The Sale of Goods Act only applies to Microsoft if the console was bought from Microsoft. Your statutory rights as a consumer under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) are with the retailer, not the manufacturer.

All you have with the manufacturer is the standard manufacturer's warranty.

Having said that, I fully agree that it's absolutely unacceptable to have to pay to ship something back under warranty, especially if the cost of shipping something to Prague is more than the cost of simply buying a new replacement!

You don't have to, there should be a shipping label sent out to your contact email address. Just have to print it off, slap it on your box, send it off. Unless you are sending in a controller/headset, there should be no cost to you

They are not charging you at all to repair it.

Hello TJokerK, what others here have said is correct. You should never be paying to ship the console to Microsoft. You should have received a shipping label to the email address associated with your Xbox Live account, or Microsoft account. All you need to
do is supply a box, and print the label. The postage is payed for you. If you could please mark this as answered it would be appreciated.

Mine was still under warranty so they covered the cost to have it shipped there. But honestly because this problem started after the patch and everything else works its pretty clear what the cause of the problem is. They should cover the cost.
