Shifting Fail?

Ok so maybe one of the more experienced here can help me out with this. I'm not sure if it's my shifting or something in the game I'm not aware of. At times while racing, and about to hit a tight turn, I find that my car suddenly looses power coming in.
Say I'm on a straight away, and coming in at 5th gear, suddenly the car just begins to lose speed and give the impression that it's "auto-braking" as I watch my speed drop (without me hitting the brakes) and it's almost as if the engine is cut off or stalling.

Is there an advanced feature I am unaware of with some of the cars that causes them to auto-brake when coming in too fast? Or is it some sort of bug that's being addressed by T10? I've only recently started playing so I'm not that far into the game, and
all I'm driving mostly is a BMW and / or low class cars in the D to C range.

I'd hate to think it was the ghost of James Hunt floating in and slowing me down for my own good lol, but it's just such an odd thing when it happens I'm totally unsure of the cause. Any insight on this is appreciated. Thanks.

Speedwheel shifting ???

I have the wireless speedwheel and have a question, when I have the shifting set to manual and the drift hud turned on how do i shift when the same buttons used for shifting when the drift hud is turned off is the same buttons used to toggle the hud when
the drift hud is turned on?

No you can't remap the D pad. But you can put your shifting on the X or B buttons. That is how I have it setup. You obviously are trying to shift with the D-pad as well as bring up the telemetry hud right? Just change shifting to X-B buttons.

 

I know there *is* an auto-brake feature in FM4, which can be changed in the difficulty settings under ABS I believe it is. I'm guessing there's probably a similar feature in FM5.

Either that, or it's possible that the tires you have fitted to your car are made of bubble gum and gorilla glue.

 

I had considered the bubble gum and glue tires...but I digress, it's hard to be the racing champion I know I am destined to become when I'm losing power entering turns faster than a poorly wired hut during a tropical storm in the middle of a third world
country who's owner hasn't paid the electric bill in months.

I'm going to have to revisit the settings to see if there's anything going on there...

 

By default, all the assists are turned on in FM5. The problem you describe is likely because you currently have the braking assist set to "Auto". Change this to ABS On or ABS Off and you won't have this issue.

 

You're the man Crunchy! I was in there last night and noticed that after checking my settings. There it was "Braking Assist: ON". It was getting so annoying because it was practically taking the turns for me!

 

Glad others answered this. I haven't been here in a few days so I didn't see your thread. By the way, is that BMW you're talking about your "all white, supercharged" BMW?

 

@ PAN. By the way, I guess there's no way to gift a car in FM5? I'd like to either buy a BMW M1, tune it and send it to you or have you send me your BMW M1 so I can tune it and send it back but I don't know how we could. I could tune one and post the tune
up maybe but would you even be able to find it in order to download the setup?

 

Harry - If you tune your own BMW M1 you can choose to save and share the tune. Then PAN can search for tunes for that car by your gamertag and download it to his own car.

Thanks Crunch! I've uploaded a few but wondered if there might be some other way.

Pan, I'll go ahead and do a tuning setup or two...or three for the BMW M1 and post it. You'll be able to search my gamer tag and, as with all my tunes, I use the key word(s) "Dirty's rides". I'm guessing you want it tuned for C class? If so, I'll do a couple
of tunes right off the bat. One will be called "C class GT" and the other will be called "C class ST". My personal coding: GT = Grip Tune and ST = Speed Tune. If you see MT it's Mid Tune.

Post Script: I'm glad my drivatar is able to provide hours of "fun".

 

I realize I'm probably too late to be of any further assistance, Pan, but if you're still having troubles with your shifting, perhaps you could get this guy to help you out:

 

C class tune for the BMW 1 series is uploaded and available. There wasnt much room for upgrading in c class. Less than 30 PI points to work with and it has mandatory downforce on the rear so I made it an"MT" tune. I did put a downforce spoiler on the front
but set it as low as you can (which is 50 pounds) to balance it out. Keep in mind I dont use assists (trac control etc) and prefer just a lil oversteer so the tune reflects my taste. I recommend a manual *** and its setup for that i.e. shifting just past redline.
