  1. Sharing Profiles vs. Allowing "Guest" Profiles

If a friend wanted to play games on my console and used my profile I'd let him/her do so because I believe that person would act responsibly with my belongings, in the same respect that they trust me with theirs.

Merely sharing one's account is against Xbox Live's ToS and could result in getting your console banned. No way in hell would I let anyone access to my account. The only time I would allow it if were my child (which I currently do not have) or a girlfriend
wanting to access Netflix/Hulu (see previous parentheses section).

Having said that, I would allow my friend(s) to sign in under their own profile on my Xbox if we were playing co-op or something.

If you're in my house, must mean I like and trust you to a certain extent; you're still using your own/guest profile to play on my console. My reasoning? It's the same as giving them control over my credit cards or bank account...I don't like them THAT much!
    Lmao.

    Peace, J.R.

Davey, it says "account" at the top because you can use that link to access settings that go far and above anything that has to do with Xbox Live - you can find the same thing on Hotmail, MSN, and many other MS-owned websites and services. You'll also notice
your gamertag at the top - that's the link to your actual profile for Xbox Live. As I said, there is a difference. Sharing Profiles vs. Allowing "Guest" Profiles ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone! Overall, it definitely seems to be a trust issue - you either trust them or you don't. Personally, I say better safe than sorry. IMO, the simple fact of the matter is regardless of whether they're actually trustworthy or
not, you're still increasing the risk or chance of something going wrong by sharing your profile with others (even if it may be unintentional on their part). Sure, if the person is trustworthy that means it'll be far less likely to happen, but it doesn't necessarily
mean that it won't. I just think that by letting them have their own profile, it gives you a safety net, gives them a bit of freedom (like earning their own achievements, for example), and is a win-win all-around.

Does anybody else agree or disagree?

@GG sorry I thought this was a XO forum, according to MS on the Xbox one you have a guest accounts.

    support.xbox.com/.../use-guest-account

Maybe use the correct wording in the title to avoid confusing.

I sign into my xbox one with my account details, which gives me access to my profile, so your right there is a difference, but you can't share your profile without sharing your account.

  6. I won't argue against that, Davey. Sharing Profiles vs. Allowing "Guest" Profiles ;)

I never suggested that you could access 1 without the other, though. Just some food for thought... Sharing Profiles vs. Allowing "Guest" Profiles :)

Maybe I'm just trying to be too politically correct... :|

@GG, you might want to point that out the MS, when I sign into this website, at the top it clear says My account.

    @Stud, thanks for understanding.

Offline games, sure i dont mind em playing on my account

Online games, No feckin chance lol Not messing up my kds and skill scores etc, my stats represent me i dont want some of my noob mates dragging em down lmao

Regardless of above tho they NEVER have access to my account if i aint around i simply don't share the details with ANYONE, unless there really is some unavoidable need to do so which so far there hasnt for me but my mate had to give me his account details
so i could let him sub of my cc to get round that strange account lock ms puts in place with a failed DD, after that was sorted i removed my info and thats the last i been on his account, friends are supposed to be friends i would never compromise a friends
account if he allowed me to use it and i hope for the same in return

I don't let anyone use my account for that reason, even my partner has to use her own account to use my Xbox.

Even though I know she wouldn't do anything stupid with it, I really don't have trust in people to use it for the fear if they do something with it and get it banned. Plus lets be honest it takes less than 5 minutes to set up a new account for the console.
