Sharing Minecraft with my family to simultaneously play under their own accounts

    Hello all,

I've read quite a bit of older blogs but am currently unable to get it working.

I have bought Minecraft (Java and Bedrock) under my parental account and want my 2 children to use the bought gameunder their Microsoft accounts.

    - a Family group is setup for me and my chilren
    - my children have a login enabled on 2 of my devices (windows 11)
    - i've successfully gone to store on the children accounts, switched to my user (in store, not windows 11) to download Minecraft, then switched back the account int he store.

However in the Minecraft launcher, the Minecraft Java keeps indicating "Buy" instead of "Play" .

I've tried launching Java directly via Windows and via Xbox on Windows app, both however indicate I must use the Minecraft Launcher.

As a workaround, if I switch the Minecraft launcher to my account, it will work to "Play" under the parental account, however then both children will be using my account and cannot play together and simultaneously with their own friends.

    :)

Sharing Minecraft with my family to simultaneously play under their own accounts

    Hello!

Hope you are well. I'll be glad to assist you.

I understand that you want your children to be able to play Minecraft with their own accounts, using the purchase made from your main account. Unfortunately, it's not possible to share the license between accounts in the same family group, even if they're on the same PC and in the same Microsoft Family group.

Microsoft family groups are only used to set parental control rules such as spending limits, content restrictions, play time, etc. They're not used to share licenses.

I hope the information has been clear, I will be attentive to any questions you may have.

    Best Regards.

    Xbox Game Pass Family Sharing

Yes they can. Each user will have their own game saves and can play simultaneously. All what you need to do is create a family group for your Microsoft account and each user will need their own Microsoft account. Once the family group is created you then simply need to login to the PC as the user you want to share the game with and open the Microsoft Store to download the game.

I can't seem to play the full version of Minecraft while offline...

My wife and I have the family pack. her account is the primary account. I bought and downloaded minecraft on her profile. My son just got his own xbox. I downloaded her profile and game to his xbox but it wont let him play under his gamertag. All three
gamertags are under the family pack. Is there a way to get him to be able to play minecraft on either xbox under his gamertag?

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Famly Sharing

    Hi Cardinal,

Im not sure about cross-play game sharing. but you can game share the account details as long as the accounts are shared on the xbox, it should work.

Here's a small guide to help

    Microsoft Store
The Microsoft Store may be one of the most welcoming when it comes to sharing games with your friends and family. Similar to Steam, it allows you to share with up to five users on up to ten different devices.
However, unlike Steam you can play on multiple PCs simultaneously. My kids can both play Minecraft on their own PCs from the copy that I actually didn't purchase but received with an Xbox One Minecraft bundle, which is another side benefit of the Microsoft
Store. With Play Anywhere titles, you get the rights to play on both console and PC.

You will need to create a family group for your Microsoft account and each user will need their own Microsoft account, including children. You can manage the members in your family group here.

Once the family group is created you then simply need to login to the PC as the user you want to share the game with and open the Microsoft Store to download the game. Each user will have their own game saves
and, as mentioned, can play simultaneously. This approach should also work for other content on the Microsoft Store such as apps, movies, or TV shows.

Another bonus for parents is Microsoft will allow you to set screen time limits, location sharing, content filtering, and even send you a weekly report of your child's activities on their PC.

Xbox One and multiple gamer tags and consoles

I'm aware the family plan is cancelled. Microsoft announced that you could have several accounts under a main or primary account. My question is can I run multiple consoles simultaneously with the different gamertags listed under that account and share digital
content. I have 4 gamertags currently and the family plan worked well for me, except for having to buy multiple games and dlc. When it was announced that I could consolidate and only have to pay for one live account that could share content, it sounded good
to me. But with my understanding there could be an issue for multiple consoles in the house now that they have changed there drm policy
