Sharing DLC on XBOX 360 - Destiny

My two sons bought a copy of Destiny on a disc, and then bought the season pass to get the first two expansions They have separate accounts, and they play the game separately. They wanted to get 'The Taken King' and both play it on their separate accounts.
They bought it between them and downloaded it from the XBOX game store. However it seems that only one of them can play it as it is locked to one account. This seems very unfair - is this the case?

Previously, when buying DLCs they have been able to redeem a code and they found they could both play it because it went on both their accounts, so they fully expected this would be the case with The Taken King. Having spent so much money we are all pretty
annoyed here. Can anyone advise?

Destiny dlc

I was going to buy the destiny dlc for xbox 360 but I'm getting an xbox one Christmas if I buy destiny for my 360 version will it transfer over the the xbox one destiny version

When you purchase any type of Xbox content, whether it be on the 360 or the One, the account that is active at the time and linked to the controller that hits "purchase" becomes the license owner for the game, DLC, expansion pass, etc. That person can access
that content on any console they happen to be using as long as they are signed into that account. Also, whatever console they originally were on when they purchased said content will be able to have anyone play it on it, whether the original purchaser is signed
in or not. So, long story short, if one brother is trying to play the game on another console and was not the original purchaser, he will need the other brother who did purchase it to be signed in while he plays it. I know it sounds like B.S. but unfortunately
that is how it goes. I hope I was able to answer your question.

HI, thanks for your response - we only have the one console, and the arrangement you describe was how we understood it to be - they have played other games and shared purchases - but 'The Taken King' seems to be different as they haven't both been able to
play it - could it be that this game is set up differently?

Destiny dlc can't be shared. It is account based. Sorry

Hello Rotarl, sorry to hear you're having trouble with sharing.

I am a huge fan of Destiny and have been playing since the early beta on the 360. Now, as you know Bungie does not allow sharing and prefers that each person buys their own copy of the game to play.

That being said, game sharing can work with Destiny but it's sporadic at best. My wife used to be able to access the DLC as well but no longer. Although Xbox does allow game sharing and Bungie does not there is no specific workaround for this. Please accept my apologies.
