    Sharing Digital Games With Kids

Adult X BOX ONE S user. Set up my kid as family and added his gamertag to my xbone S. He cannot play any digital games that I downloaded, like Minecraft, unless I am also signed in. What gives?

If I am not around to sign in, he can't play. If I give him my passcode, he can override the content restrictions. Stupid.

Is there a way to share digital games with a child on the same xbox, while keeping passcode functionality for the adult?

    :)

    Two into one.

If you are buying the game on disc then you would need to buy two copies however if you buy the games digitally then you only need to buy it once and both your kids can play it even at the same time also both kids can share Xbox live

When sharing your Gold subscription, what are the specific gold benefits you get?

Hello, You are correct, your kids can play online games, but they can not redeem the games with gold, since their account does not have gold.

Your kids will also be able to play any of your digital games on your home Xbox.

Here is the Xbox Live Gold sharing features page.

Hopefully I was of some help.

    Game sharing

Since an account can only share to one console, this limits the use of game purchases and Gold sharing to two consoles.

    It basically works like this:

Everything an account owns (Gold membership, Game Pass Membership and purchased digital games) is tied to their account. Which means, that person can go to any console in the world and access their games.

Then the account can also share their games and memberships to ONE SINGLE console: The "Home Console". Which means, ANYONE playing on that console can benefit from the games and memberships that the owner shared to that Home Console.

Since you can only share to one console, you can't share it simultaneously to three consoles.

If only the kids are supposed to play the game at the same time, have one of the kids buy the game, and they set their "Home Console" to each other's console (i.e. the son sets the daughter's console as his Home Console, and the daughter sets the son's console
as her Home Console). That way, each kid can play each other kid's games and you only need one Gold membership for both kids.

However, if you also want to play with your kids at the same time on a third console, there is no way around getting the game a second time, and you would also need your own Gold membership.

    Non-Game Dad needs help

    Hello Fellow Community Member!

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are inquiring about how to correctly configure two Xbox consoles to

    share games and services
    in-between your children.

Ideally, this is how it would be configured:

    • Console A belongs to the Son that you originally redeemed Minecraft to.
    • Console B will belong to the Son that wants to share this game. [In other words, 2nd kid]
    • Console B will be set-up as the Home Console of your 1st kid, this will allow you to share Minecraft onto that console since it was redeemed to the account of 1st kid, in the future, if you wish to organize and minimize your expenses, you would continue
to purchase subscriptions as well as digital games on this account, so that you can continue sharing this to Console B.
    • Keep in mind that son playing on Console A will be required to sign into his account And be connected to Xbox Live [the internet] in order to be able to play any of those digital games you purchase.
    • Console B will be able to play any digital games installed on the console offline and with any account on that console due to being configured as the Home Xbox of your 1st kid.

Fortnite is a free game, so you will need to go into the Store and manually download it from there on each account individually in order to be able to play this.

I hope this was able to clear up any confusion this might have caused.
