Sharing a downloaded game on the same Xbox one

My son purchased and downloaded Rocket League on March 20th to our Xbox One. He can play under his profile, and we can play split screened with both of our profiles. When I tried to play it by myself, it told me that the owner of the game needs to be signed
in or I would have to purchase a copy for myself. What gives? How can I get around this issue?

This certainly works, I have TF downloaded, paid once and is happily playing at the same time on two different consoles with two different gamertags, in the same house.

Its nothing like the family sharing feature. Its accessing the digitally downloaded games that you own, on any console that you log in on. Just like we do now on the xbox 360, except you are able to play befor the whole game has downloaded. I cant remember
where i read it, but im certain the Xbox One does the same!

He would have to set the console as his Home console in order for you to share content on his account.

Reading this, and you writing "My son purchased and downloaded Rocket League on March 20th to our Xbox One.", it almost sounds like this is a the main console (maybe only console) in the house. It could be a case of your son having his "home console" set
as another console. My oldest son shares his profile with a friend in the military and the guy gives him his. So if my son purchases a game only he can play it here for the most part. But all of his friends game are playable on his console since it is his
friends "home console".

I set my home console to one of my other sons consoles and his to mine. So, games are shared between those consoles. You can set this in the settings menu. Just look up how. And check if he has the console set as home or not. I had an issue once with
a game even though the console was set as home though. Had to uninstall it and redownload it.

Xbox Play anywhere games share the same save with the Xbox One. Some games that are not do that as well. One example is Quantum Break. That game shares the same save, but is not a play anywhere game. It just depends on the game if it supports cross save
or not. Usually if the game shares the same save, then it also shares the same achievement list too.
