share downloaded game

I'm a newbie-user dad who bought and downloaded Madden 18 for my son. We have two accounts on the xbox: mine (adult) and his (child). He cannot play this game unless I log in. What specific steps do I need to do to allow him to play. Also, everything
seems to be locked on this game; he can only plan Atlanta vs Patriots. How do we open this up?! For $60 I would expect more.

Sharing Digital Games

Hello

I wanted to know, if a friend shares a digitally downloaded game with me can I then go and share the game with another one of my friends?

I also wanted to know how many people you can actually share a digitally downloaded game with.

Please help.

Hi.

If you have created a family setup i think to change anything you will need to sign in as the overall main account that has control over the other accounts.

There are a few things it could be.

After you are logged into the main account, go to All Settings -> Account -> Family

Once there, choose the child account for which you wish to allow access

Then On the child account you could try All Settings -> Account -> Content Restrictions and check if their are any Restricted Content options enabled that could be effecting him being unable to play

Something else it could be is on the child account you could try and check the privacy & online safety settings but thats more for sharing, communications, video, adding friends etc.

Hopefully one of them will work.

Even if I am not logged in? I have 2 xboxes and we downloaded an expansion pack for Left 4 Dead on one and downloaded it on the other when i logged into it later because i thought it stayed on the console. I was going to log in on 1 xbox while they log in
together on the other... but we can't find the expansion pack while they're logged in. Only on mine. So, without me, they don't have access to it, is that right? :eek:

Yeah, Aft is correct. It's the same thing as DRM on PC games. You have to jump through all sorts of hoops to play a game you purchased for PC on multiple PCs within your home. I suspect that EVENTUALLY they will offer a DRM free version of downloadable games
on Xbox that costs more. While this sucks, they have to make that extra coin in some way or another.

Just know that if you follow Aft's tutorial, you will no longer be able to play your downloaded games on your Xbox while offline. So, if you are like me and you take your xbox to work a lot or travel with it, unless you have access to Xbox Live while you
are playing, you won't be able to enjoy your downloadable titles. Apologies to Aft if he already explained this part. If he did, I guess I didn't feel it was very clear and just wanted to elaborate.

When you download content it's tied to the gamertag that purchased it as well as the console that it was purchased on. As long as all of the profiles are on the same console that has the console license, they should all have access to the content.

One thing you could try is signing in on the console they use and do a license transfer. It would guarantee the licenses are on that console. Usually you need to redownload the items (it'll jump straight to 100%). If it still doesn't work for them, then
it would be one of the things that don't share.
