Sexual Harassment

My daughter is being persistently harassed by a user with the gamertag
[Mod Removed]. He is saying very inappropriate and vulgar things to her, and every time she blocks him and files complaints, he creates a silver account with a new gamertag and continues with the harassment. The most recent account is similar to her
gamertag and he is apparently telling people that he is her. Lewd and lascivious behavior needs to be stopped as this is very disturbing to her and our family.

Recents have already been checked and she can't remember... She remembers the gamer picture. She says it's just the Xbox symbol (circle with green "X" in it) with a gray background color. Thanks!

you do realize the game has a maturity rating? I suggest you heed that.

 

calling out gamertags is not allowed on the forums.

Your daughter should set communications to friends only,that way she will only receive messages from people on her friends list.

If she has filed a complaint against this person then they will be investigated,it can just take time as the the enforcement team get 1000's of complaints per day,all of which have to be investigated.

 

Unplug the console and play a board game with her, or perhaps a card game.

 

yep we all know ms dont do anything to cheaters and hackers and thats why they setup this little loop hole on the fourms where we cant name and shame. Actually we need a place to do this directly to the staff that bans people because I am tired of immature
people on live and after 11 years plus im sick of it. I have seen sexual harrisment on live and helped report them but yet they still play on live after couple years of this. I bet if I could get a big group I could go for a class action lawsuit even though
you all put that into your tos agreement. I bet a lawer could say that MS as a business is not upholding their tos agreement therefor you could do a class action lawsuit. Also Mantis the OP should not have to play something else because a bad apple ruins things.

 

You can't name and shame on the forum because you can accuse a person of anything, how would we regular users know who is telling the truth. I could post "Floorboss has been sending me rude pictures" how would people know if I was lying or not?

The problem I see is that for such a massive network as Live, they have quite a small Enforcement Team. If things are taking too long to get investigated then Microsoft should hire some more people.

 

You wouldnt like my nude pic but we do need another better way to let ms know so they do a half way job. Yea I agree Vaynel they do have a small team which tells me they either dont care and just want out money or xbone broke the bank. We just need a better
way and I would love to send video of cheaters just to have proof. I think if ms is in violation of their own TOS if they dont do anything. I think they add a update to xbox live for 360 for when we report people add a comment about it

 

Well I have a situation that clearly needs to be addressed... A family members GT is on my Xbox One and I noticed she was talking to a 21yo man that is trying to meet up with her a 14yo girl to have sex... She lives in Sandusky OH. while he lives in Oregon
OH. this is 1hr away from each other... I have filed a report with the Police department in his local area as well as reported all of the messages on Xbox as well. He is still trying to make contact with young girls through XBL with no reaction from Microsoft...

All of the cynical posters that are spewing nonsense like "play a board game" and "change security settings" are missing the point that there are perverts on XBL that need to be tracked down and removed... The fact that there is nothing being done other
than "blocking and ignoring" is disgusting as well as sad. It shakes my confidence in how Microsoft handles it's customers safety... I hope they figure out a better way to keep these sick individuals from contacting anyone, let alone minor children...

 

Posting a link to the video containing other peoples gamertags is not allowed on the forums.

Follow the advice I posted & set communications to friends only then you will not get any messages from strangers on xbox live.

Could you possibly tell me what type backwards logic you have that you think that taking precautions (like "change your security settings") is viewed to you as "spewing nonsense"? I assume that you lock your front door, right?
The criminals who would break into your house should have be "tracked down and removed", so there would be no reason for you to take any measures to protect your home, it's contents, and it's occupants, right?

Nobody here. Not a single person (even the cynical and sarcastic among us) will deny, even for a moment there are perverts, and downright terrible people using this service. This is why you use the "File Complaint" function.
This makes the security staff at Xbox aware of what is happening, and gives them the ability to (as you say) " track down and remove" these vile user.

It's not a foolproof system. Because it is a human (not automated) system, investigations may take a little time, but once the complaints are verified. These perverts are removed. This happens on a daily basis. The reason
people suggest that you block communications and change the security setting is because of the time an investigation takes.

Let's say you file a complaint, and it takes three days (this is an arbitrary number, so don't look any deeper into it than is necessary) for that complaint to be processed. In that time whoever is harassing you, is able to continue
to harass you. This is why you block communication with their accounts. To prevent them from sending any more messages. This is why you change your security setting. To prevent them from creating new dummy account to harass you. This is why the advice
Daft Badger gave is neither "cynical", nor "spewing nonsense".
