severe storage bug

this glitch has been around for at least six months. whenever i try to update a game it fully re-installs the game. iv been using a external hard drive (2 terabytes) but this has been in use for the better part of 3 years and most of my games are saved
on it. if someone could please help or send me information or redirect me to something that will help id appreciate it a lot.

every other xbox user iv talked to says otherwise. takes hours for a simple update while the same update affecting my friends takes 5 minutes

got into contact with Xbox support and it seems the best course of action would be a complete reset of the Xbox and storage device if the issue is fixed i shall post about it again in case anyone has the same issue i did. if i dont fix it il get a xbox one

Check if you have this external HDD for NTFS file system if this is not the problem. You can not have anything else on the HDD if you want to use the HDD as an extended storage on the Xbox so the HDD must be completely empty. And it's just for Xbox.

Hey there Jay thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us.

Short answer, this isn't a bug, it is by design. The developers found it better to uninstall and re-install games every time there is an update to minimize the amount of corruption on the downloads. We understand this is frustrating but there isn't a work
around. We hope this clarifies this particular situation.
