Several factory restores after accessory purchases

Has anyone else had to do several factory restores just to get new accessories to work properly? My newest accessory purchase was a media remote that only controls my volume from 6 inches from the console. Seems a bit inconvenient for a remote control to
me. After several holds on a support phone call, I was told a factory restore was needed. Now, this wipes all settings and games so I am essentially starting over for the third time with this console in just a couple of months. The first restore was when my
Kinect stopped recognizing the yes and no commands on shutdown. At the time, the console was new and had very few games installed. Now, after several game purchases and downloads, I am going to have to spend most of Saturday reinstalling games and redownloading
games once again. In just about 2 short months, Microsoft has seriously damaged any little bit of credibility they had with me. My main problem is that the games are so large, the installs can take up to an hour or more to complete so with the dozen or so
games that I own, I am going to spend a large chunk of time reinstalling disks and apps.

Does anyone have any advice on the Media remote before I go through this horribly inconvenient process yet again? Any small bit of help would be more than I have gotten from Microsoft or their Representatives. Thank you in advance for anyone with a quicker
fix than a full restore of my console once again.

    :)

System Update Successful but it broke my licenses

Yes. I did use the Factory Restore option which did not accomplish much. After that I have cleared the cache several times, but nothing seems to work.

    XBox One won't start.

Yesterday I had an power outage. My Xbox One was on, but I wasn't using it at the time so I don't know what was going on. When I turn on my Xbox I get an error message " 102 10010c02 8b060007". I get the option to try again or restore factory defaults. After
I tried restarting several times I tried to restore factory defaults, but that doesn't work either. After a few seconds my Xbox restarts and I just get the same error message an options. I've tried several times with the same result. What's the problem? Any
    solution?

Thanks for the info. I tried every step I could find and it turns out the tech rep I spoke to last night had no clue what he was talking about. After several troubleshooting steps and a factory reset it was determined the problem is the IR sensor in the
console itself. I am getting a new console sent out and I chose to pay $15 to be able to keep my console until the new one arrives and ship back the old one then instead of going more than a week without my console at all which is the free option. I will update
this once I have the new console since I'm hoping it is a hardware issue and nothing more.

Several factory restores after accessory purchases

So, here is an update. After paying the $15 to send me a replacement without sending mine in first and then replacing it, I installed the new console and still have the same issue. I called support yet again and was asked why I was told to replace the console
because there is an update coming out in about a month to address IR blaster issues with the new remote. Did more troubleshooting and then was told I could send in my Kinect to see if it is bad but then my console is essentially a paperweight until I get the
Kinect back. When I inquired about the charge to ship me a console I was told it was noted on my account but apparently I have no recourse for the mistakes made by tech support. I asked what I do in a month and the update does not fix the problem and I am
outside the return window for the Remote? I was told at least I have a remote to control the xbox, just not the volume and mute functions unless I sit 6 inches in front of my console.

I am simply posting this update to warn people to carefully consider paying Microsoft any money to ship a new console unless it is critical to do so because if the problem is not resolved, it is wasted money. I do realize this is a new console and there
will be bugs but in my opinion, the customers that spent 500 on a console and several hundred on games and accessories should not have to pay Microsoft to then fix the bugs in those consoles and accessories. I will update this discussion again in a month or
so when the Kinect update comes out.

Here's the latest on this. After days of troubleshooting over twitter with support, I was able to get the remote to work on the console in another room on a different tv. I then brought it back to my living room tv and set it back up and nothing again. It
will work if I turn the console 90 degrees to the right but since the remote needs direct line of sight this is of no help. My question at this point is what could interfere with the xbox media remote that uses IR tech but with no other remote in my living
room including a wii u controller to operate volume, a tv remote, and an Apple TV remote? I get that there is interference but why with a single remote out of 4 in the room?

Further troubleshooting has me believing that the kinect itself is interfering with the remote in my main setup. If i face the kinect at the tv and the remote behind the kinect, the remote works as it should. I can also use the remote if it is out of the
kinect a line of site such as just in front of the console but 3 feet to the right of the console so that the IR blaster in the kinect cannot interfere with the remote sending the IR signal. Of course support is telling me that it is a reflective surface in
my room and not the kinect but I understand they cannot admit publicly that it could be a flaw in the system. Does anyone have a similar setup with an Emerson tv, kinect above the tv and console below by 2 feet and the media remote works fine? If it is a reflective
surface I'm doomed because I have a glass desk, entertainment stand and glass top coffee table. I'm not sure if I like the fact that I may need to remodel my living room to get a $25 remote to work the way it's supposed to.

You actually should not have this issue with the media remote. As stated earlier worst case scenario is pressing and hold the power button on the console. The only other thing it could be is your sensor maybe you don't have a clear view or its non functional

    Sleepy,

I have tried every single thing support has suggested, including a hard reset of the console as you stated by holding the power button. I did a bit more experimenting today and if I hold down the mute button on the media remote to force the kinect to send
an IR signal at the same time I try to adjust the volume using the actual tv remote, the kinect signal interferes with the tv remote as well.

I do understand I should not have this issue since I am using an actual Microsoft made media remote and the kinect interferes with that remotes functioning. At this point I am probably just going to give up on Microsoft accessories for a while until they
can provide support for those accessories after they release them. I was told by a phone support person that there is an update coming out in a month to address the kinect interfering with IR remotes but the next support person denied that they have any knowledge
of updates so who does a person listen to in that situation?

So here is the newest update. I tested the theory that the Kinect signal is interfering with the remote signal. I did this by sitting on my couch where I typically sit and held a piece of paper so that it blocks direct line of sight between the kinect and
the remote's IR sensor but not blocking the remote's line of sight from the console. The remote works perfectly in that situation. I am no microsoft engineer but that all but proves to me that somehow the Kinect IR blaster's signal is somehow interfering with
the remotes IR signal. I do not know the specifics of these two devices to know how that happens but it is happening. I also tried moving the Kinect below my tv instead of above and the remote still does not work with blocking the Kinect signal somehow. I
am left to hope that the update that I was told about corrects this issue so that I can use my remote the way it is designed to work.
