Setup 360 through PC monitor w/ built in speakers via HDMI?

Only asking because I can't find a definite answer and I'd like to try and snag a nice new monitor that supports 1080p or higher rather than my old 720p TV (also use it to mirror from laptop in same room when I'm gaming).

Has anyone had success with a PC monitor with built in speakers getting BOTH sound and visual via HDMI? All I am finding is separate cables for audio and aux speakers rather than built in.

using xbox with hd widescreen pc monitor

How do I get audio while adding my xbox to my pc monitor that does not have built in speakers (seperate speakers plugged into pc) My monitor is connected to pc via vga and I connect the xbox with an HDMI cable for best video. is there a hub or something
where I can use same speakers? Monitor is a Samsung S23A550H

Playing on PC monitor with external speakers

My TV is pretty small so I wanted to play on my PC monitor instead since it's much bigger and in HD. Problem is they don't have built-in speakers, so does anyone know what I'd need to be able to play Xbox One on my PC monitor and still get sound through
the external speakers? Is there anything I'd need to buy?

If the monitor can receive the audio through the HDMI cable then it should work. The monitor specs should tell you if it can.

In order to connect a monitor to your Xbox 360 you will need an Xbox 360 VGA HD adapter or if your monitor has Hdmi a HDMI cable. Depending on your monitor you may need to setup a headset or speakers for sound but alot of monitors nowadays come either I
built or packaged with the monitor.

Does your monitor have in built speakers, or 3.5mm audio jack? If yes, I think you should connect via HDMI as it will carry sound as well.

However, if your monitor doesn't have any of those you need to get speakers to connect directly to your Xbox.

Yeah it will. I game on a 1080p monitor with built in speakers. I use HDMI obviously, but I recently got a 360 E so I use the 3.5mm jack on that, with a decent bass unit and speakers, to provide the sound, and I've muted the monitor.

Doesn't seem to matter how good the monitor is... the sound is pretty tinny on them. Up-side is, when they have speakers, they also have a headphone jack, so if you have a decent set you should get rich quality sound and be fine.

My monitor is insanely slim... I guess there's not a lot of room for quality speakers. I'd suggest you get a demonstration of the monitor's sound before you throw down your cash though. {=D
