Settings for xbox app on windows 11 reset on update. How do I stop this?

Every time I have to update the xbox app it also seems to reset my settings. Specifically the default download location (I use the D drive for my games) and which account my windows store uses. This also means I have to fix these settings every time I want to make use of my game pass. This must be a bug of some kind, so I'm wondering if any of y'all have a fix for this

Did you mean every time there's an update for Xbox app, all your settings go back to default?

Do you use a separate Microsoft account to sign in to your Windows user or profile? Try to use the account you use for gaming in the Windows user account or you could switch to a local user. That must be the reason why it defaulted back to the account you currently use for Windows user login.

I would highly recommend updating it to Windows 11 and seeing if it can sort out the Xbox app issue. You can do this by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates

Hi George,

I was using the latest version of Windows 11, the October update.

Anyways, after checking the disk, checking for Windows updates, defragmenting, and updating the Xbox app, it stopped crashing.
