Setting up wireless headset

I've got a pair of Turtle Beach Stealth 500x and for some reason I can't get any sound out of them. Is it because I've got the audio settings turned on for both HDMI (for my soundbar) and for optical (for the TB's).

I am right in thinking that if I want to use my TB's, I'll need to manually change the audio settings (HDMI off, optical on) - I'm guessing the XBoneX won't automatically switch between the two depending on which audio outlet is turned on.

On a separate note (and this may be for a different forum) but any ideas why the TB set up instructions advise you not to set the audio settings as DTS-X and to use Dolby Digital. I find this strange as the Stealth 500X are DTS.

Is your headset is wireless?

Because if it is i might have the solution.

Thanks for the reply. Turns out I made a monumental rookie mistake: I had my optical cable going into the 'out' connection and not the 'in' connection on the wireless hub.

All sorted and working like a charm!

Your Turtle Beach should be able to use the optical output even with HDMI active however you do have to ensure that you are using the correct digital format otherwise you won't hear audio in the headset (I had this happen with my Astro A50 Gen3 once until
I reset it back to the correct setting). IIRC, unfortunately the only way to check/change the Optical Audio output format is to unplug your headset interface (Astro has one, not sure if TB does too) so that it re-enables the Speaker Audio section then make
sure that the Optical audio setting is set to one that your TB headset supports. After you've done that, you can reconnect the headset interface and re-select Using HDMI or optical audio headset.
