setting up two xboxes in one household

I have a family account where I am the parent and I have two children under my family account. I recently purchased a new xbox one s and tried to set it up to have both xbox consoles share xbox live subscription and all xbox store purchased games.

I was not able to use my children's accounts since they are children under the family account, so I created a new account (guest account) to assign one xbox as its home xbox. The original xbox is my home xbox. I then tried to make the new xbox my home xbox
and the original xbox the guest account's home account. It is my understanding that this is how to create a family share between xbox consoles.

What has been happening is that the home xbox keeps being removed from my accounts above, and I know I have a limited number of times before I cannot do this again for an entire year. I have tried about three times, and it still is not working.

It may be important to note that I am the primary account on both xbox consoles.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can get this to work?

Hi,

You shouldn't have to set up a guest account. or set the second Xbox as a home console for any user. You may have to sign yourself in on the Xbox and leave your original system as the home console and set up/add the rest of the family accounts in the Settings
from there.

The Home setting is what allows you to share gold/games on a console. You can only have 1 console set as your Home at s time. So if your children were only going to be using the original console and you would be using the new one, you would need to set the
original console as the Home for your original account. If they are going to be using the new console, you would need to set the new console as your Home.

Otherwise, if all of you will be using both consoles you would either need to buy the games and gold on a 2nd account and set the 2nd console as that account's Home, or your account would need to be signed in on the non-Home console while your kids use it.

Hello Hoopman,

Thanks for coming to the forums with issue on setting up home console. Basically If you are going to play on the older Xbox. You need to set the new one as home. The children can then play on that console and use the gold and all your games. You do not need
a guest account for this at all. On your older console, if one of the children want to play on that one with their sibling on the new one. You will need to sign in on your account in background. Then the child logs in on their account on the older console.

You would only need to set your main account as home for the console that you would like to allow the kids to use. If your account has Xbox Live and Games you just set yours as home on the second Xbox, then play your Xbox as normal when you sign in.
